When it comes it beers, I am willing to try everything. If I come across a beer I don't like, I assume it is because that bottle is off, not the correct food or my taste is not as I should be that day. Always an excuse to try it again. All to often with the same result, I do not like it.

In my case it is often geuze or beer which is to sweet, I do not like it, but I keep on trying.

    Will I ever learn?

Yes, one day you will learn that Geuze is king.

One day you will learn that craft beer isn't all good. Not even close. It's not you it's just bad beer. Take solace in the fact that you are not alone in this silly line of thought. Not by a long shot.

    Beer sucks at life.
Geuzes are as highbrow as Jaden Smith.

Stop buying styles that you don't like and focus on keeping your ticks within the styles that you prefer.

I have read that one must try new things a minimum of nine times to become accustomed to the subtleties of that thing. In our case it is beer. Leaarning off flavors and process faults is key! If there is an issue, knowing whether it was the brewhouse or in distribution or dispensing is the issue. is the beer balanced and complex, or one dimensional ie; solely hop focused, not just hop forward. Also accepting the fact that there just might be styles and product within those styles that you don't like at all, but are still very well brewed beer

Why do we not refer to wine afficianados as wine nerds or geeks? I think the idea persists that beer is common and blue collar, trivial. why would a normal, person of standing put so much focus on such a pedantic pursuit. While wine, on the other hand, is the drink of the upper crust, the well to do. To be a vintner or somalier is a worthwhile pursuit. JMHO!

I think Drie Fonteinen does the best gueuzes around, even better than Cantillon. 3F Oude Gueuze shouldn't be that hard to find in Europe, I wouldn't think, so go give that a shot. Get Golden Blend as well, if you can.

Cantillon is untouchable with fruited lambics, though.

If you don't like a beer it's either because you don't like that style, or it's because it's a bad beer in that style. As you gain experience in your beer drinking you'll come to realize that you will like all styles, or at least accept them as good but not necessarily your favorite style. However, you'll come to realize that brewers do make some bad beers, and you'll never like them. Sometimes it's hard to figure out ahead of time if it's a bad beer without reading some reviews. You can probably presume that if you drink a bad beer from a certain brewery that you probably don't want to give that brewery another chance without doing some investigation to see if that bad beer was an isolated incident.

Great answer, Goose. I would add the additional caveat that even some GOOD brewers do make some bad beers.

Yes, and you can also learn to have great depth in beer, enjoy craft beer for two + decades and never need to appreciate or learn to drink Geuze or however the hell you want to spell it.

    Don't sweat it.

I think it's more important to know why you don't like a beer. Appreciate a beer for what it is and note anything that it lacking and/or is there and shouldn't be.

Ya but you can do some traveling to Belgium and get some Cantillon gueuze on the way. Hell if I lived in Portugal I'd make that trek in a heartbeat.
