So my girlfriend has finally starting to get into some craft beers (usually the chocolate one), but she's also on Weight Watchers and she's very careful about what she eats/drinks. Last night we shared a bottle of Rogue Double Chocolate Stout, but could only find partial nutritional information for their regular Chocolate stout. My question is beer unlike food & soft drinks, in the sense that it's not necessary to show nutritional value and information? Also, is there a sight that has this ingformation that I just overlooked? Thanks fellow BA members. Cheers!
You will find this topic has come up in the forum. The most helpful post suggested a guideline of 30 calories for each percentage of ABV. I assume that is for a standard 12 ounce serving. thus a 4% ABV would be 120 calories while a 9% chocolate stout would be 270 calories. The poster did warn that some styles (like perhaps a chocolate stout) would run higher than 30 calories per serving. Some sites, like Sam Adams, will give caloric values.
ratebeer.com has caloric info for most beers. also, what jimkal said. its not exact, but you'll get a ballpark
Drink craft beer only if you plan on working out and burning calories. Substitute light beer and drink craft stuff occasionally.
Thanks for the info. I hope to never have to drink a "light beer", but I do fully support my girlfriend in her quest for a healthier lifestyle. The problem is that she needs protien, and carb info. Not just calories. BTW, does Stone make a Ruination Light?
Is there actually much protein in beer??? Note to OP there's lots of carbs and I wish the bigger breweries that can afford to do it would post the nutrition info. To the people who don't want to know its simple don't look at the label.
