Don't think so. My rudimentary understanding of chemisty is that the Oxygen in N20 is binded very stabley with the Nitrogen. I don't think it would react with the beer.

I agree. Otherwise we'd have a problem with co2 as well!

One thing I used to do on some homebrews to get a creamy head was to use a syringe and suck some beer into it then inject it back into the beer, worked well for lower carbed beers that gave a lacklustre head from the bottle.

The link for the siphon is only for a a half pint right? A whole bottle wouldnt fit then? Or am I just having a horirble brain fart before dinner lol!!

There is a link to the siphon I have in the original post. It is listed for $35. I have an older model but basically the same. The cartridges are where the cost lie. Depending on what bulk you purchase, they can range anywhere from $0.50-$1 each. I have the half pint size. The nice thing about that size is that you only need one cartridge to charge a beer. The most common size is one pint but you would have to use two cartridges of nitrous. Granted you could fit more beer, but it is nice to have the option of being efficient with a single beer.

Also you can do all sorts of other cool stuff with a whipping siphon if you are into cooking:

I poured a whole 12oz bottle into my half pint with no trouble. Not sure if I exceeded the max volume but it worked just fine. The full pint siphon usually needs two nitrous cartridges to properly charge the canister, so I think the half pint is more effective.

By popular request, Heady Topper on nitro! The glass on the left is the normal Heady and on the right is the Nitro Heady. You can see that the bubbles are a lot more fine and that the line of the head is more crisp on the Nitro glass. As far as taste, I don't love IPAs on nitrogen because you lose some bite from the co2. Either way, this method of nitro charging a beer seems to work really well. Has anyone else given it a go??

Sorry to bump an old thread but I was just wondering how the beer on nitro at home experiment was still holding up? Try any more beers? Was thinking about picking one up this week from Amazon.

I like a good bump! I have done it a handful of times more with a few different beers. It definitely works. One thing I have found is not to shake the canister too much or it gets way too foamy and tastes flat by the time it is drinkable. When you make whipped cream with the siphon, you give it maybe four or five good shakes before dispensing. With the beer, one or two is more than enough.
