I drink beer out of wine glasses all the time. It's no big deal all you have to do wash them.

Heh, heh. Life's too short to have to explain what makes me happy to other people. Then of course we are all exposing ourselves to the scrutiny of a forum. Guess I'll go have a St. Louis framboise out of the proper logo flute...

I have a few shaker pints that I use for making my post-workout shakes, Gatorade, etc.
I don't think I've ever drank anything but beer out of my "specialty" glasses...

My apologies. I misspoke. My point was that to never use beer glasses for anything else seems a bit OCD. I'm not disputing the importance of beer glass types for various styles/preferences, and to showcase clarity and amplify aromas. I'm a big fan of the tulip glass myself.

Yeah, I've got no issue with it... just pointing out that I've been guilty of ignoring "proper" glassware etiquette at other's houses.

Glassware has as much to do with cultural norms as anything else. You can eat Mexican food out of a lacquer bento box, but it might feel a little "wrong" the first time you experience it. When my wife used my favorite beer glass for a smoothie, I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be "that uptight guy," but I am a bit uptight and I didn't have the easiest time seeing a smoothie in that glass.
