This right here. My wife thinks I have too much beer. BTW, she never complains about me drinking too much, just too much in the cellar. I have on occasion snuck beer into the house and into the cellar.

I mostly panic over bottles I love that I no longer have. Like I could really use another speedway stout because I don't have one right now. Most of the time I have too much beer.

ummm don't have a panic number if the IPA's are in the fridge they go first other than that the cellar usually has beers that age just fine, and I usually have anywhere between 100-200 bottles depending on trades / times of the year, and tastings that I have blown out stock on...cheers BA's

Usually have 2 kegs of homebrew ready for daily drinking, which keeps me out of trouble at the store or bottle shops. I've got 10 or so commercial bombers for special occasions, some homebrew bombers squirelled away as well. Before that, however, I was tending to buy beer every 2-3 days, and it was kind of a bit of a problem.

That's more or less what I did. Made a list of things that were "worth" the trouble to ship them and set those aside to be slated for the move. Everything else, I went crazy on--drinking them myself, bringing them to happy hours at work... pretty much any method of getting them opened and consumed available. And I have to admit, a few bottles that had been purchased as a total crapshoot to see what they would do with some aging were opened, tasted and more or less drainpoured. But that wasn't until very late in the game, when I was in total packing panic mode and just trying to get done in time for the movers.

I know. I really took one for the team.

"Sorry honey, but I have to drink all these beers for the good of our family!"

I've been starting to get some anxiety that I have exceeded my top number and that I am still purchasing more than consuming, so my cellar is growing exponentially. I continue purchasing in fear of missing out on something that could be amazing. But I am now at a level where I feel like even though many beers may improve with some age, at this rate, even if the beers do improve I will never be able to enjoy all of them as I will continue to have too much beer.

Every time I try to get to a manageable number of beers I start giving stuff away to trade partners or throw in as extras. Then I think good I'm at a maintainable level. Next thing you know 3 boxes show up from people I sent beer to not expecting anything back and I'm at capacity again. Then beers like oro negra get release and with a cousin living next to Jackie o's my wallet and cellar space are hurting again!

B - I don't know, I never reached the point where I worried. I do sometimes realize I've run out of hoppy beers, and need to get some IPAs. But I don't panic. I grab malty ones, or one of my cellared beers, and hit the bottle shop the next time it is convenient to pick up some more IPAs.
T - A couple hundred. Which is where I'm usually hovering, which means it is generally a push pull to keep my inventory down to a number that I can manage and don't lose quality on the hoppy ones and drink the rest in a proper time frame to avoid spoilage.

    (B) = 20
    (T) = 100

Most of my beer comes from at least 45 miles away, so...

You can always tell her that for every 5 bottles she makes you get rid of/drink, she has to do the same with a pair of shoes.....

As long as either number never gets to zero, I'm good. Generally, there is always a revolving 50-100 in my basement fridge.

I try to limit the amount of fresh/hoppy stuff I have on hand. Cellar is a different animal.

With homebrew on tap year round I'm rarely worried about running out of every day drinking beer. As far as the cellar goes, well, I don't think I could deplete the thing by myself in an armageddon type situation in less then 3 months.....it's probably 400+ bottles, mostly large format and mostly larger beers. I really need to make a cellar list.

3-30-300 Rule. Beer flavor loss: 3 days at 90°F = 30 days 72°F = 300 days at 38°F. If they are in the fridge, no worries. It is not the same a sitting a few additional weeks on the shelf at a room-temp store.

No panic here, but I do get a little anxious when I really want a beer and I'm out of everyday drinkers forcing me to bust into the cellar beers. I usually forget all about my problem when I'm halfway through a high abv bomber.

I only buy beer when Im going to drink it. I never keep it in the house. Cos I have no restraint and it would just get drunk. Haha. Most beers for me in house would be about 10-12 I guess.
