Hello! I've been MIA from BA for a few months, following our move out to the great state of Utah! My partner and I hauled a bunch of craft beer with us, but so far we haven't met any other beer geeks in the Salt Lake City area. Who's around, who meets up, and does anyone ever hold tastings? That's definitely one thing we miss about the Midwest, so it would be awesome to meet some like-minded people over some tasty brews here! Feel free to message me if you don't want to respond in the thread. Cheers! Sarah
Hi Sarah, I'm around. It's been awhile since I've been to a tasting, I'm not into trading anymore. Let me know what you have in mind, always willing to go to the brewpubs around town. Cheers! John
You might have seen the Utah Beer Blog already--but a bunch of us kind of congregate there: http://utahbeer.blogspot.com/ People get together at The Bayou and The Beerhive often. There's occasionally a tasting party--although they're more likely to be announced here: https://www.beeradvocate.com/ratebeer/?path=/Forums/Forum-1599.htm
I'm kind of in the same boat - moved from Grand Rapids about a year ago, miss (terribly) the scene back home. My mom recently shipped me some Michigan beer (Founder's, Shorts, and New Holland) IN THE MAIL, so if all else fails, have some buds ship you some of Kansas' best. What did you bring with you? Check out the scene at Epic Brewing on South State (lots of experimental and high gravity stuff in bombers), Uinta Brewing on the west side, and like Ed H said, the Beerhive is the shit. A few of us have brewed together, too, which makes for a fun few hours and a great place to share the ware.
