As someone who is a hobbyist photographer and also a craft beer enthusiast, I'm always trying to set up nice shots of good beer. I find that I can get some great shots, but I could always brush up. (I'm casually starting a craft beer/travel blog for which some dope shots may be nice - casually meaning "as a hobby" and "when I have time") Any suggestions on what you use for a nice shot? Focal length, polarizers, composition/background, etc? When I have a normally incredible background, beer or no beer (say, Cantillon at dusk in front of the Eiffel Tower, a full pour of Society and Solitude perched on the deck looking out over a snow covered Hill Farmstead), it's not that hard to get a somewhat epic shot, but sometimes when I am shooting in ordinary circumstances, I struggle to get the exciting shot I'm looking for.
TBH, while I do have a decent DSLR and a few lenses and filters, I find that I can be way more spontaneous using my phone, a Samsung Note 8. There is some lens aberration that can throw in some frustrating curves, literally. You'll find that probably 99%+ of the pictures posted here are taken with phones. If there are any higher quality pictures, they are probably in the thread "Beer ****". Even there, a majority of the pictures are taken with phones but a few aren't. Mine were taken with my phone. https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/quality-beer-photos-footage-aka-beer-****.63479/
Yeah I've seen that post (and may have contributed once or twice... maybe will do it again now!) but I didn't see any specific photography tips for beer per se. Phones are great esp when you're at a brewery, but sometimes I have to be obnoxious and pull the DSLR out, hahah
Actually I take that back.. I guess I've only looked at the later pages and not the first couple, where they actually talk about photography.
