Good afternoon to all. Could someone give some basic guidelines on how to take a nice picture of a beer for the review pages? I've taken some with my camera but the size is too big and also I don't know how exactly to make the picture 150 x 300 pixels. I've tried with Microsoft Paint which has an option to resize your photo, but the result looks like the photo on this page http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10871/41049 (by the way I didn't take that photo). So, any tips and tricks for better photos? I have met lots of beers with no photos here in BA and at the time I was able to take one and update the page, but the result would be dissapointing.
I use: http://www.picresize.com/ Just make sure it comes in under the right filesize after resizing. Cheers!
I usually take a HQ photo and open it, then open a new canvas that I set to the measurements I need (150 x 300). Then I reduce the size of the HQ image until it's small enough to copy and paste into the new canvas. If you can't figure it out send me a private message/conversation, I can edit it for you tonight and send it back so you can upload it.
I start with the canvas as well. Usually I'll re-size the width of the canvas to 300 first then crop down the height of the image to 150.
Hi again and thanks for the answers! Special thanks to Patrick who did 3 photos for me. Here I have photos fot the Grolsch Stender Lime and Lemon http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/506/80153 Anyone who wants can convert them and post them himself, I don't mind. I've taken 3, so feel free to choose the one you prefer best. Cheers. http://imgur.com/vmflL http://imgur.com/jGIsh http://imgur.com/vU9aV
This has always driven me mad. I have no issues cropping and resizing an image to the 150x300 limitation. Its the damn file size that screws me up. How the hell can I get an image down to 20kb or less?
That's my problem too. I don't know what programs the other guys use, but with my Microsoft Paint I can't seem to do much. Anyway, I have some more for the technologically advanced with free time and good will. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/498/80267 photos http://imgur.com/B4HcM http://imgur.com/K5QNp http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3517/80268 photos http://imgur.com/VGVk3 http://imgur.com/W3ucr
It is quite simple with Photoshop using "Save for Web". You can buy Photoshop Elements for less than $100. Otherwise there are many other applications out on the web that have been mentioned many times in these forums.
