I guess doubling down on a pricing mistake is a good way to "stick it to the man." But if this is a good shop that provides you good beer at fair prices, you should remember that he is losing money on this mistake.

It's not really a small, local outfit or I'd consider otherwise. There were lots of those 4 packs all tagged with that price. My guess is that they will all sell to someone without this store even thinking twice about it. I'm pretty good to my local shops, sending them business from people looking for beers they have and letting them know about beers coming out that they don't know about.

I am in metro west and 10.99 is the best I have found for WWS singles. One local had a 4 pack format @ 12.99 or 13.99 per bottle great beer enjoy you found a great bargin. cheers

Domestics like miller coors and dreadful bud have decreased in price due to craft kicking so much ass. But every year the price of beer does go up. Slightly. A lot of distributors are trying to stay away from sending so many bombers due to code dates. Easier to sell 4 6pks then 12 22oz btls

Yeah you got lucky, the guy pricing it probably thought it was the Indian Brown.

But locally I'm paying $8.99/single and $33.99 for a 4 pack of WWS

Unquestionably, craft beer prices have been on the rise. However, I did happen to take notice at some price drops while I was at the beer store the other day. Fifty-Fifty Eclipse bottles which have been priced at $30.99 for quite some time are now $27.99. Large format Brooklyn beers that had previously been $22.99 are now down to $20.99.

Hasn't Cascade recently dropped their prices? I seem to remember their 750's would be around $28-30, but now am seeing them around the $22 mark.

I think these are two different trends:
    1) Macroeconomics: beer prices in general are increasing in line with increased costs in labor, ingredients, etc.
    2) Microeconomics: as individual breweries grow, they have the capacity and infrastructure to switch from lower volume packaging to high volume packaging.

As more breweries transition from hand-bottling 22s or using mobile bottling/canning to having their own automated equipment (and have the brewing capacity to support larger volume), they invest in more efficient technology to distribute in formats which are a better value for the consumer. You'll see individual cases of lower $/oz (almost always associated with a change in format), but the overall trend is inflation.

The only brewery that I've noticed a drop in price is Ballast Point, not only are they available everywhere, their beers are ~$3 less per sixer since they were bought by Constellation. It might just be me (probably is) but I don't think Sculpin tastes nearly as good as it did 3-4 years ago.

Maybe in Pennsylvania it is, but not here. Lots of great 6-packs at $9.99 or less. Heck, I got a 4x Gold Medal winning foreign export stout for $7.99 last year (on sale), probably will happen again this year. A lot of the good stuff though is 10.99 or 11.99 ... yes.

The word sale and beer don't go together in PA. Not sure if it's a state thing or not. Besides a few out of season cases I have never seen any advertised beer on sale

    Enjoy

How fresh is the Sculpin you are purchasing; is it as fresh as when you bought it 3-4 years ago?

    Cheers!

I'm aware that freshness makes a difference, like I said, it's possibly me and not the beer that has changed.

Ugh, it's right down the road here and $9.99 for a sixer and now $10.99 in some spots for their core beers. :grimacing:

And another vote for the prices only going up here, most beers went up a dollar+ a six pack around me.

That's unfortunate. I will admit that some places locally have them at $9.99, but $8.99 is the norm. Hell, I paid $8.49 for a 4-pack of Harvest Ale.

I've noticed this particular shift as well, though I attributed it more to the fact that those bottles previously sat on shelves unsold for months priced at $30+. Shave a few dollars off the price and free up the shelf space that much quicker. (Locally, anyway)

$14 4x12 oz bottles as "Lil B" and "I love you with my stout" - quite often bought
    $14 4x16oz cans of IBB + EMJ - yesssss

IBB 16oz can might be my beer of 2016, tied with GGW in every store.

I recently noticed an increase in Sierra Nevada's price that surprised me, because I always took it as a given that Sierra Nevada would be the cheapest craft beer.... but not so any more. I've seen cases of Long Trail, Goose Island, and a few others cheaper than SN cases.

Prices in NJ can vary greatly from one retailer to another. SNPA can be $8.99 one place and $10.99 in a store lass than 1 mile away. Still overall prices are up somewhat so it pays to shop around.
