Beer raffle for a friend in need.

A friend in my inner circle is battling a very tough fight and our group is trying to raise money by raffling beers we all donated. A very close friend is organizing this. See below for details.

A good friend was admitted to the hospital due to a rare blood virus (aka Buford the Bacteria) and heart infection a few weeks ago. After many ups and downs including brain bleeding, a seizure, blood clots, and of course an ongoing battle with the insurance company... he is stable enough to undergo open heart surgery this week to replace a heart valve. A GoFundMe has been set up for Jake and his wife Laura to help with bills and expenses. Some friends and I decided to throw together some bottles to raffle off and raise some money for Jake.

You will get one (1) entry for every $5 donated to the GoFundMe page linked below. You need to email me a screenshot of the confirmation page or confirmation email from GoFundMe at [email protected] and you will receive an email with your raffle number within 24 hours. You will also be added to a Google spreadsheet that is viewable by all to track the number of entries and bottles available.

Drawing will take place the weekend of 11/17 on Facebook live. This will be a reverse raffle which will confirm all entries are present and accounted for.

There will be multiple winners, at least four at this time. With more possibly added. Each box will be 5 or 6 bottles. Check the spreadsheet for more details. Each box will have a retail value of at least $75 and secondary of much more. CONUS is included if outside STL area. If local I will arrange a meeting.

Hello and thank you again for your contribution to the Beer Raffle for Jake! The spreadsheet has been finalized and the drawing is ready to go. Due to poor planning on my part, the drawing will occur on Sunday November 19 at approximately 8:00PM CST.

We ended up with 271 entries from more than 40 people and raised over $1,300 for Jake and Laura!!! This is far more than we ever anticipated and the generosity of the beer community is overwhelming. Thank you to all the donors and thank you to everyone that contributed bottles for this... it started off as me wanting to donate like 4 or 5 bottles and became 30 bottles in just a few days.

The drawing will occur on Facebook Live as long as it will allow us to do so (not sure why it wouldnt, so anticipate that to be the plan) This is the link to the page or search for DarbySTL

Please be patient if the drawing doesnt begin right at 8:00, it will be somewhere right around then. The drawing will be done using a reverse raffle and #'d ping pong balls... this means the last ball left is the grand prize winner, second to last ball left is 2nd place, 3rd from last ball drawn is 3rd place, and so on. There are currently 5 beer prizes that will be available and they are listed on the spreadsheet just to the right of the list of entries. Every number will be called out with the last 5 being our winners. This method seemed a little bit better and more straight forward than using a Random Number Generator, and when we first started this I had 144 balls and didn't think I would need them all... but as stated above, the generosity was amazing and I went out and got more balls to continue with the reverse raffle as planned. It will probably take a few minutes, but we'll get through it!

If you are in St. Louis, I will make arrangements to get you the beer this week or this weekend. If you are not in St. Louis, boxes will begin shipping ASAP once winners respond w/ their choice of box.
