I really love citrusy ipa's, and don't care much for maltier, heavy, piney IPAs. Because there seems to be no style distinction between these toe types, it's very difficult to try to try new IPA's based off th labels.

I love, Maine Lunc and. cigar city jai lai. For example.

Also, I'm in new York, things I might find here would be more helpful.

    Thanks any suggestions welcome,

    RA

How bout Hop Ranch? 100% Pilsner malt, very unique profile.

Sucks also is a total fruit bomb.

    Yeah sucks is awesome.

I will definitely keep an eye out for hop ranch, we get victory here but I don't think I've seen it yet. Thanks

Interesting, I found Hop Ranch to be far more pine-based hops than say, Dirt Wolf, which is a juicy, fruity monster of a DIPA. OP, if you haven't tracked down some Long Trail Limbo IPA yet, do it. Thank me later.

Deschutes Fresh Sqeezed IPA is one of my favorites. Citrus, fruit, not piney at all. Not sure if Deschutes makes it to NY, but they have recently started to distribute in some Midwest states I know for sure. Maybe it wouldn't be too hard for you to get.

I tend to shy away from dipas because the tend to be heavier, but I will track down some limbo if I can.

Bells two hearted is 100% centennial hopped and has a really floraly nose and hop profile. Should be able to find it new york. Its been a while since i had it but if I remember correctly southern tiers ipa isnt all that piney. Also if you see Widmers Rotator series, the current one is an IPL called Hopside Down and it is a very well balanced and is very smooth amd drinkable with a great hop profile but nothing over the top. Hope this helps!

Bells isn't here yet but I had some when I was away recently. Really great. We should get distribution this year. Can't wait

Grab a sixer of Flower Power then (Ithaca). Amazing IPA, very citrusy/floral.

This is amazing to me because I didn't get anything but pine from Dirt Wolf. I haven't tried Hop Ranch yet.

To the OP, if you can ever get your hands on it Odell Myrcenary DIPA would be right up your alley. It's one of the fruitiest, juiciest, most delicious IPAs I have had.

I didn't get much pine from HR, more lemon and even a bit of Englishy-earthy character. Less tropical than DW and waaay less malty.

I was going to comment that one of our taste buds were broken, but then you went and said the most intelligent comment ever re: Myrcenary, so...high five!

    Bells Two Hearted, of course.
I can never remember if NY gets Schlafly? Tasmanian IPA smells straight-up like oranges/tangerines
    All Lagunitas IPAs
Sierra Nevada's Ruthless Rye (out now!) and Flipside (out fall)
New Belgium's Accumulation, incredibly bright/floral. Any other mosaic-forward beer for that matter

Myrcenary to me has a pretty good malt base and isn't that dry.

But it is awesome, one of my favorite DIPA's.

Beer, especially IPAs, really seem to illustrate the differences in our palates. It's amazing what one person will pick up that another will miss. When Stone did their coconut IPA I couldn't believe how many people said they couldn't taste the coconut; it was clear as day to me.

Hope so too because at under 40 a case for bells here, it is easily a great choice for an every day ipa. That mixed with the fact its pretty much a world class ipa make it damn near unbeatable. personally my every day beer is Lagunitas Hop Stoopid. Its a DIPA but I get a great balance of just the right amount of sweetness with a little fruit and just a hint of pine. Def worth checking out as well.

Tropical, dry and not piney is a tough one. Sucks comes to mind first. Double Jack, Enjoy by almost fits but does have a little piney bitterness(which I love). Not that it's easy to come by in NY, but if you love lunch, you'll also love Pliny.
