    Hey, All

The wife is visiting some friends in Exeter, New Hampshire this week. She wants to bring some beer back for me for Fathers Day, since I was unable to go because of work. Really interested in anything not available in MI. I know there's some really good stuff out there. So any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Shilling and Lawsons cans are a good start. Others can chime in

What styles of beer do you like the most?
    Schilling is great for lagers
Ive liked Kelsen for big malty brews

I certainly dont have all the answers, but what you prefer to drink will likely lead to different suggestions.

    I'll recommend two:

Spyglass Brewing (in Nashua) for their IPAs. Depending on where in Exeter she is, they are roughly a 45 minute drive. Their hoppy game is highly underrated IMHO but that's the extent of the praise I'll give them. They still need to work on their other styles. They are active on Instagram and their website will answer questions about hours, availability and prices.

There are a few restaurants around them on Rt.101A so she can grab a bit to eat to make the drive worth while. The food is not worth ordering at the taproom. They are located in a little office park so she'll have to keep her eyes out as you wouldn't expect a brewery in the building

Deciduous Brewing (in Newmarket) has decent IPAs and fun fruited sours. They don't often have stouts available, but if they do when she stops by, they are a must buy! I've only had a handful of their stouts but have yet to be disappointed. They are roughly 15 minutes from Exeter. Last summer, about 75% of the pool beers my wife and myself enjoyed were Deciduous sours. They are also active on Instagram and their website is useful for availability, pricing and online purchases

The only food recommendation I'll give is to Hop + Grind in Durham NH. They are 10 minutes from Deciduous but in the wrong direction for her. They have the best chicken sandwiches though. They have other food too but I make it a point to go for a chicken sangy anytime I pick up cans

Aside from that, she can head north to Maine. Barreled Souls (great dark beers) is just under an hour away in Saco ME and Portland ME is a little over an hour away. She could probably spend a whole day in Portland between food and shops. There's also close to a dozen worth while breweries she could hit up for you. That's a response for another day if you can convince her

    Hope this helps. :beers:

A lot of good breweries mentioned already. Exeter is pretty close to They City in Seabrook and Prost in North Hampton. Both really good bottle shops with lots of local NH beers. Super helpful folks too. I'll toss out Modestman as an up and coming NH brewery. Stoneface also makes some very good beer. Already mentioned, but I'll echo Schilling. They're probably my favorite lager brewery right now.

Seems like all you need is an address and any direct-to-consumer-prior-to-COVID brewery will ship to you in NH

Good call. I totally forgot that NH allows that.

From Exeter, she is probably 15 minutes from Deciduous Brewing in Newmarket and 25 minutes from Stoneface Brewing in Newington. These are two of the best breweries in the Seacoast, definitely in the top 3-4 in the state, IMO. @7irondave covered Deciduous above. Stoneface currently has 20 beers options to go - if picking just a few, I would get the flagship IPA, Full Clip, and Rum Barrel-Aged RIS.

As others have mentioned, there are a few good beer stores in the regions and Schilling would be top of the list for any and all things lager.

I forgot Stoneface lets you buy singles so you could try a lot of different beers/styles across two four-packs and a RIS bottle. Between Deciduous sours and a mix of Stoneface you'd be in really good shape.

    Awesome suggestions!
Although I would like to keep it simple for the wife, so any good beer stores that have decent selections will be more ideal for her.
Im into mostly anything but sours

That’ll be The City in Seabrook then. Cheapest around, pretty decent selection. Oxbow, schilling, some of the Portland juice ipa things from Line Pine and the like.

The only other brewery rec is give would be Silvaticus in Amesbury. 10 mins from Exeter and also The City. Lovely lovely lagers

So here's what she's got for me so far...
    (If anyone's still interested )

I think she did rather decent. Especially since she hates shopping for beer for me. :stuck_out_tongue:
Can't wait to dig in... she comes home Friday
