Plum Market in AA received a case. Not sure how many other stores received it. I'm not one to typically hunt for beer but for some reason I was determined to try this one.

What was the MSRP on this one (and price at Short's)? Just curious as I paid a little over $25 a bottle (thanks @BEERschlitz for letting me know how much I really paid :grinning:... as I was told $22).

2 bottles of New Holland Vanilla Chai
    +
    1 Bottle of Short's Batch 5000
    =
    READY FOR IT?!?!?!

$38!!! :grimacing: And the shop owner didn't even ask if I wanted any Vaseline! (this is a well known/reputable shop in Grand Rapids by the way...)

16 bucks at Shorts, which looks like a steal based on these prices.

Thanks for the response @Slay40. Talk about a markup :grimacing:! Being that said store got 5 cases (and sold most of it within an hour according to store owner), he had one hell of a day... (Likely $500+ net profit on the 5 cases in an hour). That's one way to pay for the fancy new building Rishi :astonished:...

Wow...I'm surprised by the price difference at Shirts. Plum Market in AA doesn't usually have crazy markups. Was the MSRP really $16?

I thought I read somewhere MSRP was around $18...Aside from the pub @ $16 a bottle, I haven't seen/heard of anybody selling this for under $20...

But I still haven't been able to find that information on MSRP. What was the price at Plum Market?

And has anybody else had this one yet (other than those who've already chimed in)? What are your thoughts?

So you bought from Rishi at Int Beverage? Just my guess, one of tbe highest markups around.

At $22 I wasn't even a little disappointed when the store owner hung his head low and said the guy in front of me got the only one that wasn't spoken for. It'd be a nice trophy, but really I just find it another blazing example of craft gone bad.

Funny, I'm guessing you're not the only one that was thinking that!

And yes, you are very right! Rishi runs a good store (very neat/clean/organized, knowledgeable staff, etc...), but the markups are just STUPID. Only reason I bought a bottle is because I was already there (well that, and I really wanted to try this one )...I'd also be willing to guess that his customer base has much larger average incomes than my humble construction income, and thus price really doesn't matter to many of his customers.

When you can post a bottle of Macallan M on your facebook account for $5200 (or close to that), and have it sold within an hour, you're obviously catering to a different crowd than a guy like me.

No sense in wasting $3-5 in gas to go home empty handed.

It hit the Lansing area today. Was able to grab a bottle at Tom's. Seems like most places didn't get much.

Had it tonight, still sipping on the last 5 oz or so. Right out of the fridge it was very smooth, not much alcohol noticeable other than the eventual warming in your throat and stomach. Hops were noticeable, slight citrus. As it warmed hops shined through more and were super delicious, very tropical/citrusy. Malt stepped up at this temp too, sweetness increased. Abv also showed itself more.

Final five oz after 2.5 hours of being out of the fridge are much more boozy (as expected), hops are still delicious, there's pineapple along with various citrus. This is a Monster of a brew. Great effort by Short's, and I do love the far top left corner of the label . Compare to fresh 120 min and this wins hands down.

Local store here by work in Farmington Hills told me a few hours ago he is getting 6 bottles in today's delivery.

If your local store gets deliveries for Shorts today (most seem to be on the Wednesday delivery schedule) then it will be today.

Looks like the delivery is spread out to quite a few stores, they just each are getting a small amount (<10 bottles)

Guessing within 30 minutes from now they will be out.
    They are now OUT.

Working a day job blows when most beer stores and bottle shops post their deliveries before 4 or 5 which usually eliminates any chance of getting the limited stuff.
