@HopHeadHerman not to derail this thread but is stellar ale no longer being released? I could be late to the party on this.

    Cheers.

Damn, perhaps I'm wrong. It ISN'T on the schedule anymore....and we're listing Juicy Tree in six packs? Hmmmm, I have some homework, I guess.

got the new shorts sampler july 2nd
    wit happens sucks balls
stroker ace sucks balls and shaft
nightwheeler is a decent black ale
kolsch 45 was surprisingly very good

kolsch 45 is the only beer out of that sampler i would care to try again. the ideal shorts sampler would consist of 3 publican porters and 9 anniversary ales

Interesting. I agree that Kolsch 45 is tasty, but I really dig Wit Happens. I do like Stroker Ace, but I am a fan of Sorachi Ace hops, in general.

to each his own, i suppose. just seems like shorts is more interested in pumping out sub par brews in order to have something new on shelves once or twice a month. they have great imagination and don't follow what other brewers trends, i just wish they spend a little more time tweaking their recipes before releasing the final product to the public. brewing good beer isn't a race

I don't feel we are interested in pumping out sub-par brews- I mean, we try to brew a quality batch of beer, every time. I certainly understand how you could perceive it, though- and I'll admit, I'm not a fan of everything we've done. Our new variety pack program is tricky, because we've never done many of them in larger batches, not to mention 12 oz bottles. We're learning a lot.

I appreciate your input. Are there any others in particular you find subpar, or just the majority in general? Most of our porfolio have been brewed for multiple years. Spruce Pilsner comes out soon- I'm a big fan.

I have not had any of these beers in this sampler pack yet, but I would be very surprised if I share your opinion once I've had them. (And you are entitled to your opinion.) The fact that you just joined BA this month suggests that you may be new to the craft beer scene. If you are, is it justifiable to post negative critiques when your palate is still learning? I think you'll be in the minority here with your evaluation of these beers, as well as your opinion of Short's marketing strategy. That being said, regardless of your opinion above, I encourage you to keep on trying the Short's beers because the brewery's beers and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Nightwheeler's a lager- and interestingly enough, probably my least favorite out of the four. Glad you dig it, though.
