Beer Release (Short's Brew): Spruce Pilsner

Any sightings of the Summer Variety pack yet?

 

Just drank my 7th spruce of the year, so tasty! Top 5 shorts brew for me without a doubt. Actually top 5 beer probably!

 

It's been out for about a month or so. I've seen them in Meijer stores, so they should be easy to find.

 

Heck yeah, and it's one of the better variety packs that have been out. Twist of Cain alone is worth the price of admission.

Brought home a howler of fresh Spruce (see my avi) last week. If you haven't had it fresh, get to the pub now.

 

I thought the steely danzig option was pretty cool in the summer pack. Also think bucktricity kills should be put in 6 packs for next summer...low abv and refreshing as hell

 

Bucktricity was good, even cooler would be a six pack of half bucktricity and half buckticutioner.

So finally managed to grab a Summer Variety pack over the weekend while back in MI. So far so good, really digging Deacon Blues. However, I've noticed that the dates on the bottles for the variety packs tend to vary wildly and also be very old by time the pack hits stores. Maybe it's just me since I get to them late anyway, but looking at the release month of June, lots of these beers are on the tail end of their shelf life already by time they hit stores (March and April bottling dates). Anyone else notice this? This happened to me with the Spring pack as well. Even if this hit a month earlier, in May, the bottles would still be relatively old compared to the specialty 6-packs when they hit stores, which are usually only a few weeks old at the most.

 

Anyone know where I can get some Spruce around metro Detroit? Looking to get one more six pack for the year...

 

It can be found in AA if you don't mind the drive...

 

Was just at Beer Baron in Livonia and they had a few six packs and quite a few singles available

 

The Busch's in West Bloomfield still has some as well.

Long shot here people..... I have an extreme craving for a Spruce Pilsner but my stock is fresh out. Anyone see this anywhere around metro Detroit still?

 

I think I saw several bottles on the singles shelf at Tom's Party Store in Ypsilanti last week. Might want to call ahead.

 

Cut down a pine tree and put some needles in a pilsner? I know, I know...
