    Well, hey there...

The Woodmaster has been bottled! It utilizes 26.5 gallons of maple syrup and 120lbs of pecans per batch. That's approximately 4oz of maple syrup and 2oz of pecans for every gallon of beer!

This is our third year distributing a 12oz version of The Woodmaster state wide. For the first time ever, we filled two Bourbon barrels with this year's batch, to see how a barrel aged version of this beer will taste. We'll find out at this time next year. Cheers!

The Woodmaster -- A high gravity American brown ale fermented with maple syrup and toasted pecans. This dark brown, full bodied ale is rich with sweet malt and syrup flavors which are complimented by the presence of hop aromas and a faint nuttiness. The palate delights with toasted qualities of caramelized malt and an earthy pecan laced finish.

One of my top 5 Shorts brews. Love this time of year at Shorts!

Out of curiosity, how do you guys think it would handle life in the cellar?

Not good at all! I drank one from last year that was 6 months old and had to drain pour it. Those pecans will turn infected

I'd only drink this one as fresh as possible. Had one last year that was about 4 months old and had to pour it. But when fresh this beer is awesome!

This. Keep it in your fridge and it should be fine (same goes for any shorts beer).

That being said, this is my favorite shorts beer and I am stoked for it.

They're good for 3+ months, but do some odd things after that due to pecans (as others have noted). Last years bottles were the best I've ever had (inlcuding the Imperial bottles and on tap).

Thank goodness its my son who is allergic to pecans and not me. More beer for me!

Damn another great release from Short's! When the hell is one of my paychecks ever going to make it to the bank? Have had it in the fridge as long as 6months myself and didn't notice any off flavors. Here's to hoping the BA version survives the ride!

I've had mixed experiences, but if it's kept cold, it can last a lot longer. I had one at the HopCat Wood and Wild Ale fest and it was tasting great--it was kept cold. Definitely best drank super fresh, though.

I hope this doesn't ring true in the barrel-aged version. Pecan nuttiness and bourbony vanilla could compliment so well

I agree, but I don't think we'll bottle the barrel aged version.

Step #1 - Bottle The Woodmaster
Step #2 - Send all Short's Brews directly to Upstate S.C.

    (I can dream at least)
