If you had a week to take a "beer road trip" from DFW where would you go? What breweries would you visit? What beers would you try to bring back?
Austin/SA. Hit up Real Ale on a Friday, JK on Saturday early then I'd hit Hops and Grains after bending space and time to get to Live Oak and Freetail as well.
What about out of state? I was thinking of driving maybe taking a road trip towards Denver sometime. It's probably a beer desert between here and there though I'm guessing.
That would be hard to fill with breweries every day. I don't really know of any between here and there but you could more than make up for it when you're there. If you wanted you wanted to really drive Chicago would be fun. You could probably hit Prairie, Boulevard and Schlafly if you planned the route well. I'm sure there are many others. Then once you get there, well, that would be easy to fill with beer. How long you planning on being gone and how far would you be willing to go?
DFW, Santa Fe (La Cumbre esp., but there are a few others), Denver/Boulder/Ft Collins. Though frankly, if there are fewer than 3 of you, just fly.
Denver/Boulder/Ft Collins is hard to beat driving from Texas. Beer desert between DFW and CO though unless you go way out of the way to hit up Tulsa and KC
I think the Denver area with a detour through Tulsa (Prairie)/Kansas City (Boulevard) on the way there and perhaps through Albuquerque (La Cumbre and others) on the way home would be a great road trip. Of course, you could also easily head towards Chicago and still hit Prairie, Boulevard, Perennial, Toppling Goliath, New Glarus, Goose Island, 3 Floyds, and a ton more I'm forgetting.
Going through Santa Fe is a bit out of the way, but you'll get some great food, access to La Cumbre & Marble stuff, and some unbeatable scenery. The drive up from Santa Fe though Taos and into Colorado is a nice one.
