So, I bought a case of of my cheap regular beers; LionsHead from Wilkes-Barre, PA. $14 for 24bottles with a riddle on the cap:slight_smile:

I live in PA so I am supporting our economy. That's my excuse! Haha

I bought the case cold but it sat outside in the case for a month through freezing temps (surprised none broke) and some warmer days. It was 70 yesterday. I just opened one now and I guess it tastes alright. Any chance of getting sick off of this?

The reason it sat was because the same day I bought it, my uncle brought over a case of the new Guiness Blonde so I've been drinking that. I actually left a Blonde outside too and opened it the other night in the hot tub after drinking 2 blondes from the fridge, and the one left outside definitely stunk and was skunked. I dumped that one.

    Thanks for anyone's input!

No. Beer's tough. That's why it has lasted thousands of years.

This thread comes up regularly in the summer when someone's beer goes from cold to hot, and this time of year when beers go from warm to cold to frozen to unfrozen. The only danger from being outside is getting lightstruck like your Guinness did.

The bigger concern is why aren't you drinking better beer?

Nope, not gonna get sick from drinking them. Next time keep them in the case outside so they do not get lightstruck.

You'll be fine! Beer can can change temperature and still be great, contrary popular belief.

Getting sick?? NO. You'll pretty much know immediately whether you will like it or not.

Reporting you for beer abuse? ... That's a different story! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, let's go outside, since you don't have the second life to live
And no one would report you as beer abuse

Shitty beer is nearly impossible to kill--have done your "experiment" many times in past and hard to tell a difference.

Unless you regularly get the "beer craps" from it, then no. The most that will happen is flavor loss (I doubt that's even possible with LionsHead) or that lovely lightstruck aroma/taste. Unless it was bottled in highly infectious conditions (due mostly to improper cleaning) then you never really have to worry about getting sick off of beer, especially with those breweries which pasteurize their beer (which LionsHead does). If beer were more finicky with regards to temperature, then it would be a lot more expensive (since most beer warehouses aren't typically known for having good climate control).

No risk of getting sick. Now if it was in the sunlight a lot or got really hot it wouldn't taste as good. Still be safe to drink though

No more sick than you would if it was in the fridge.

You'll be fine. If the taste hasn't been affected much, I wouldn't worry. The worst that could happen is that it would get skunked, but that doesn't appear to have happened.

Just to be safe you should send it to me over here in Surlyville, for a closer inspection and "sensory analysis." :grinning:

P.S. I used to LOVE that cheap beer! $8 for a case of 16oz bar bottles!
