So my parents are going to Boston on Wednesday, and they are checking luggage, so I am trying to figure out what I should try and have them bring me back. I live in Atlanta, GA so I am trying to figure out what they could find in Boston that I can't in Atlanta?

I like all types of beers, but would probably be interested in getting some bigger special beers if possible.

I'm not sure if this is the best section to post in, but I'd figure I'd ask the locals.

There is a website that tells you distribution of beers by state, but you are gonna have to google to find its name.

Gotta go for Hill Farmstead. I also like some of Blue Hills' offerings quite a bit.

His parents would have to drive 4hrs to Hill Farmstead to get the beer, or they could have it on tap if they are lucky.

Glad I didn't have to be the first to make that comment. Some serious local suggestions : Clown Shoes, Jack Abbys, Haverhill Leatherlips, Maine Beer Co., Wormtown Be Hoppy, Mayflower Porter. Some beers from these breweries may be difficult to get but most good stores will have something from them on the shelf. I would look at the websites for belmont craft beer cellar and julios for a better idea of whats available in the area.

Www.seekabrew.com/# and tell them to stop by Baystate Food and Spirits in Brookline. I'd be more than happy to help them out.
    Cheers,

Jack's Abby, Mystic, Night Shift, Mayflower, Wachusett, Berkshire, Maine, Slumbrew, Ithaca, Pretty Things.

Specifics: Jack's Abby Hoponius Union, Mayflower Porter, Berkshire Oktoberfest, Maine Zoe, and Pretty Things Meadowlark should all probably be sitting on shelves around the city and are highly recommended local beers.

Just saw this part of your post. Most of the recent exciting releases are more national breweries. FBS is out and BCBS should be out this week. We, like I assume most parts of the country, are overrun with pumpkin and fall beers. If you like the style, I recommend Cambridge Brewing Company's The Great Pumpkin. It has the most actual pumpkin taste from the style I've had. Otherwise, they might find some Maine Lunch which comes sporadically.

No matter what, your parents will be able to find some solid beers at stores in town with offerings from most New England breweries that bottle.

They should also try to visit some local breweries in and around Boston too if they can.

Yup, I am. Thanks for being an ass about it though. Their IPA is not a typical American IPA, so it gets blasted, but believe it or not there are other styles besides IPA (gasp!) and blue hills brews some real good beer. I'm probably biased because I spent a summer brewing with them, but I've also had a lot of beer from a lot of breweries, and you can do a lot worse than blue hills. Taste is taste though. I do like black hops a lot. I think that their hefeweizen is a great beer in the spring and summer and I really enjoyed their holiday stout as well as a handful of other, more-limited releases (omg walez). But I suppose if all you want is in-your-face hop bombs and bourbon barrel aged stouts then blue hills probably isn't for you.

As far as hill farmstead is concerned, I wasn't aware that it wasn't really available in Boston. I haven't been there since hill farmstead has been out (is it even in mass? Now that I'm typing this I feel like its in VT... Should probably look into that) and I kind of assumed it would be in Boston bottle shops.

I think I was confusing it with jack's Abby. My bad.

I was being serious. Also, mayflower porter is real good. Good call on that one.

I think Jack's Abby is just as good, and I'd recommend them as well.
