Beer sharing story. Merry Christmas!

    So I've been a member for a few years. I use BA fairly frequently to see whats going on in the beer world and commenting on occasion on threads while drinking a good brew and chilln out. One day a few weeks ago I posted on a thread that Black Note was kind of the white whale for me. I live in Indiana and have had most of the best imperial stouts/bourbon stouts...Dark Lord, CBS, KBS, BCBS, but never Black Note. I got a DM one day from a fellow beer geek who told me he was from Kalamazoo and would send me a bottle of 2015 vintage Black Note when he got some. At first I asked him if this was a scam or something. Hahaha. How was I to know? I figured what do I have to lose and gave him my address. A couple weeks went by and I got another message and he said he didn't get any 2015 but would send me one of his 2014. Today in the mail a 2014 Black Note....AND a bottle of Saturn. Stoked!!!!

    I've heard of others sending a little extra something unannounced when trading but this was a gesture without requiring anything in return and he gave not one but two legit beers.

    There is still good in this world. You just have to be part of it. Working on returning the favor. This is the kind of culture everyone should practice. This is a community of sharing. Beer is always better when shared with others.

    Great story! Always nice to read about a BA helping out a fellow BA and not even wanting anything in return.

    Same thing happened to me after posting how much I enjoyed a certain brewery and wanted to try other beers. Great community here.

    I had my happy holidays/happy birthday (for @metter98) moment earlier this month when we were tailgating at the Jets game and the guys behind us were also tailgating with some good beers so I stopped to chat with them on the way back & forth to the port-a-john. Well low and behold, they offered us a couple of Heady Toppers, a Grimm Cloudbusting, and a 4-pack of Lawson's Sip of Sunshine - we took the Sip of Sunshine and they didn't want more than a sip of any of the beers we were drinking. Very cool guys who said they were happy it was going to people that could appreciate it - and that if he brought it home he would be in trouble with his wife who wanted fridge space back.

    This is a fantastic story. It is easy to forget sometimes that the best experiences are those that are shared with others, especially when it comes to beer.

    I too have been the recipient of unsolicited beer from several different BAs.

    Several years back a BA called mtbdonn, who seems to have gone silent in the forums, took note of my appreciation for beers from the UK. He contacted me, told me he was in the UK working with US military, and offered to try and find anything I was interested in and ship it to me. After going back and forth with myself over whether I should take advantage of this offer, and knowing that I didn't have access to much if anything that might interest him in return, I finally looked up Beers of Europe and started to build a list. Long story short several weeks later I received a box of beers I had never tried in the UK and a firm assurance from mtbdonn that no reciprocation or restitution was necessary. I did try, however poorly, to return the favor but I will never forget the blind generosity he offered.

    So we had family over toning and had some nice wine and goose island variety pack beer. I offered my sisterimlaw wine beer or what ever she wanted but she barley had a half a glass of wine w meal. So after dinner I break out some bourbon county and now she wanted to start drinking lol she was hooked first sip. Christmas cheer
