Anyone have any experience shipping 6packs of 12 oz cans in the box? Just wondering if it would be safe to leave them in the box or if I should take them out and pack them as individuals.

I have opened the box and slid cardboard or another thin material between the individual cans, then put them back in the box. I have never had an issue with damage using this method. Don't do it often, but have at least 10 times.

8 16 ozers is the max for a medium box.
You have to go large and have room for extras.

Anyone had any experience shipping to or getting shipments from Canada?? I’d like to make a couple trades but not sure what some of the regulars experiences are.

How close are you to the border - or do you ever come down to the borer (regularly)?

I’m about a 4 hour drive from the border I could probably order to a border store... I just didn’t know if I could save myself the drive

Not sure about the cost of shipping to and from, but someone told me not that long ago that it was similar to shipping over seas (so think), and a pain. I have done a trade and planning to do additional with someone that drives down to the border. His packages are held at a place, and I ship to that place. Works well, except for the fact that I have to use UPS because it's in Vermont. Ugh.

There has to be something like a hard plastic case that isn't bulky but just the right size to fit a 16oz can into. Something they sell at Walmart or Lowe's lol. Cheap, lightweight and doesnt take up much space

Are you trying to ship just one can?

Hey folks. I’m from London in England and will be in California in September. I’m planning on buying a bunch of beer while I’m over but, as it’s unlikely I’ll get through them all during my trip, was planning on mailing any remainders that don’t fit in my case back home.

Does anyone have any advice for overseas packing and what kind of cost I might be facing. Cheers in advance

My recommendation: Use a brand new 12-shipper with internal styrofoam cavities (individually ziplock each bottle). This will get a lot less attention than a hacked-up, quadruple-taped pre-used box. If you have an idea of where you will be in California you can either contact local wine/liquor stores or shipping stores (U-Haul tends to have 12 bottle shippers), or you can just ask the people on here that are from that area, as I know these guys could help you find one.

Regarding costs, I am not certain, but would guess at least $50 (USD), and possibly close to 100. But, I really do not know on that at all, as I have only shipped international one time and it was forever ago.

Here is a link to a UPS site to help estimate costs for them:https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request?loc=en_US

    Good luck.

Depending on your airline and your luggage situation you may be best off checking an additional 'bag' of well packed beers, everytime I've done it the airlines have been totally fine with a box and totally fine that it is alcohol, but there may be some customs based limits. Depending on how much beer you plan on bringing back it will likely be cheaper and you won't have to deal with any of the weirdness of shipping something that most shippers don't actually want to ship. Plus you will have your beer as soon as you land instead of waiting however long it takes for an international package to make it

    @dstsimpson

Follow this advice, but I am almost 100% positive you’ll want to use USPS. Cost will be around $120 for a 12 shipper. A medium flat rate box is around 50, a large flat rate is around 75,- and then for a “use your own,” a 12 shipper if memory serves was around $120 with it filled with 12 750s.

This is the reason so few ship internationally - if it was cheaper, more people would take the risk.

The only advice I would give beyond this is to use a trash bag over the entire 12 shipper before it goes into a box. I would also make sure you use high quality tape. I prefer the stranded tape - extremely tough.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
