I travel semi-often to Minneapolis for biz & can definitely concur that the Surly IPAs are malty. All of them. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing IMO.

Side note - Their beer hall is a must-visit if in the area, the ‘cue is good & the “tour” is cool.

Much prefer Furious to Axeman. Although labeled an IPA, I always thought of Furious as a hoppy red (along the lines of nugget nectar). Seems the only thing dropping here at the moment is Axeman, so doesn’t matter, I guess.

Just picked up a 6er of the best by December. Honestly, I'd have to do a side-by-side, as I didn't notice any difference. Just a refreshingly crisp pilsner.

Anyone seeing Ayinger oktoberfest yet? It's often among the early marzens to market and sometimes quick to go...

I've had Sierra Nevada's, seen Copper Legend, and saw Redstone post that they have Ayinger in four packs.

They also posted a "best of" Spaten mix pack with the Oktoberfest in it. The good part, you don't have to worry about the green bottles.

The bad part, I have no clue if there's a date on the box.

    Wow that’s fucking awesome.

A side by side with The Standard is in order.

I saw both the 4-packs and the 500ml bottles in stock at Ball Sq Liquors yesterday.

Cool hope to find some today. Am I the only one who doesn't like the small bottles of that beer? The 11.2 oz of a beer I don't want to sip just isn't enough. Big fan of the 500ml bottles.

Damnit! I didn’t want to read this. I’m trying to get rid of my IPAs to make room for the Oktoberfests (I already have SN).

I was trying to hold of heading there until this Friday...

I’m biased because I like smaller bottles so I can have different beers in a session.

But I get what you’re saying though. I have my half liter at Olde Magouns in September.

I sometimes just default to whichever format is fresher too.

So I found Ayinger, but man all/many Oktoberfest seem to be out now. I swear I didnt see any of them earlier in the week.

Also picked up weihenstephaner and Fort Hill's marzen. Really hoping the Fort Hill is good because I love the 6.49 price for a 6 pack.

And for those who care, pumpkin beers seem to be arriving as well.

Todd the Axe Man singles ($4.25) and four-packs available ($17) at Oakdale Liquors in Tewksbury. Also picked up King Sue four-pack dated 7/17, I believe ($19ish).

They had a whole bunch of Maine Beer Co. Lunch priced at $10 (!), limit one. Hard pass. This place is usually decent with prices, but they definitely try to gouge folks on Lunch, while the rest of the MBC offerings are at regular prices. I don't understand it...

Also still some KBS sitting on shelves if folks missed out or have a hankering for a stout in the summer...

    I can't fathom how Lunch, in 2019, is a one-limit beer. Ridiculous.

And that people would routinely spend $20 for 64 oz of IPA directly from a brewery.

Seriously. Are these stores having issues where customers are coming in and plunking down $60 for a six pack of shelf warm Lunch?
