I'm going to be ON the cape first week of September and will be staying in South Dennis. I went through this thread and the other one about Cape Cod breweries and just threw everything onto a Google Map.

I'll be stocking up on Tree House on my way onto the Cape. My airbnb is right by Devil's Purse Brewing and Moonshine, so those are no brainers. My wife wants to do a day in Falmouth to do touristy stuff, so I was probably going to hit up Aquatic based on recommendations. Is Bad Martha worth going to as well? Do any of these breweries have food?

Any other must see/do beer related stuff on the cape? I'd also love any recommendations for family friendly stuff to do as well (we have an almost 5 year old). Thanks!!!!

Bad Martha is okay, nothing special.

In terms of the original topic of this thread, I have lived on Cape most of my life and endured the true dark ages down here on Cape when it comes to there only being a few good shops within 60-100 miles.

My go to for a long time has been Moonshine in Harwich, as others have said. Although they don't have as much as a variety as their old place in Hyannis (now Absolute Liquors - don't bother going. Everything in there is very old. It is literally a time machine of the old Moonshine) their smaller selection is well picked. Some stuff can be a little pricey there. Example being $18 for an Allagash sour you can find for $15 anywhere else. They do have Drie Fonteinen and Fantome, but I honestly feel like I am the only one slowly buying them at this point. They even got Cantillon once a few years back, probably the first store on Cape to ever get any.

I also like Cranberry Liquors in Harwich off Rt. 28. They have a pretty decent selection but nothing super crazy. A little better price wise than Moonshine on some items. See my Allagash example above.

Kappys in Hyannis is nice too. They have a lot of good IPA's and for a good price but other than that their selection is average on other styles. Last summer they actually had a lot of great variety and quality, but this year they cut back a lot unfortunately.

The Kappys in Falmouth isn't as good as it used to be. The Luke's in West Yarmouth, and Brewster sometimes have some good stuff but don't always count on it. The liquor store inside Ring Brothers in Dennis usually has a nice selection in the summer, but is meh in the off season. Kenyon's Market in Falmouth actually isn't too bad but some of their prices are a joke. $30 for a 4 pack of CBS/KBS, yeah no thanks. Portside Liquors in Harwich off Rt 137 is alright too. That's really about it.

In my opinion Moonshine in Harwich, and Kappys in Hyannis are probably the best stores on the Cape. Cranberry is probably 3rd best and others are all just okay.

edit: There really isn't anything on the Outer Cape. A few small stores with very small selection. Best off buying on your way down if you plan on vacationing there.

John's in Falmouth is pretty dope. Kenyon's has a good selection too. Aquatic in Falmouth is a super solid brewery and probably the best brewery that actually makes their beer on the cape (close with Barnstable)

Would just echo that I’ve always found the Ring Bros in Dennis to be a nice hidden gem. It’s not as good as Moonshine but beats most stand-alone liquor stores for beer selection.

I will add Portside Liquors in Harwich to the list as you go futher out. Stumbled in there the other day and was blown away by the local and new England offerings, not to mention some Weldwerks and Charlestowne Fermentory that were all canned within the past month.

As a father of two kids 5&7 that spends summers in falmouth, here is my recommendation. Pay for a meter and Hit woods hole aquarium (very small but usually has pet a starfish, etc,), walk around WH and grab a snack/meal down there. It’s small and can be done quickly if you want to get to other parts of falmouth.

You can swing through aquatic and grab some crowlers, John’s liquors is next door. Just ask for what’s new at John’s as they have a ton of old stock lying around.

Bad Martha’s is a great choice for a meal on the way back to S Dennis. The beer is mediocre but the space is awesome and very kid friendly and they have solid pizza.

Feel free to message me for other recs, but if your wife has ideas who cares what I think.

Thanks for the info! This would have been awesome as we were looking for an aquarium to bring our son to, but unfortunately it seems the aquarium is temporarily closed due to the pandemic. Definitely plan to hit Aquatic and John's and probably do lunch at Bad Martha as suggested. Thanks again.

Want to add a spot that I don't believe was mentioned earlier. Town Center Fine Wine and Spirits on Rt 6 in Eastham. I popped in there today and was surprised by their selection...saw a bunch of Maine Beer Co (the standards...Peeper, MO, Lunch etc), Pipeworks, Industrial Arts. There were others but they are slipping my mind. Also, I didn't spend much time poking around. The selection isn't huge but in a pinch you can definitely get some good stuff there.

And the prices are solid. We are talking Cod Cod prices, sure, but I remember being very happy with both selection and reasonable upcharges
