Beer Storage

    I stored Bourbon County Stout Vertical Collection in its original packaging in cupboard next to oven for at least a year. Will it be ok to drink if I want to save it for years later? Thanks for any advice given.

    Best way to find out is to drink it.

    If you're like me and don't use your oven much, then it's probably not a factor. If you run a small baking business out of your home, then you might very well be in deep trouble. If you consume all the bottles together, you probably won't care if they've fallen off or not by the third bottle.

    Didn’t even think about it till the release today lol. It’s that one cupboard nobody uses and stores random junk in. Usually keep vinegars and oils in that cupboard so why not stout?!

    WOW. Next to the oven would not be my first, second or third choice. But the beer won't, or didnt? explode, so that is good.
    It wont kill you to try a bottle and see what happened. the heat may have increased some aging and potential for oxidation flavors to flourish. But it is probably okay.
    open a bottle now....let us know how it goes.

    The biggest issue you face is how great of a swing does that cabinet get on the daily or weekly. Our cabinet that is above the stove but on either side (OR directly above) gets pretty hot. The ones on the bottom (i.e. on either side of the oven itself) don't seem to change much. It's actually the range, for me, that is more of a problem. Heat and moisture are problems (for me), not just heat.

    Especially heat & high temperatures & temperature fluctuations are devastating for beer.
    Moisture is not really a problem. Long time ago, people put (marl) limestone in their cellars and kept the stones moisty (in order to keep the cellar moisty enough). I do that to since my cellar is quite(/too?) dry.
