You are absolutely correct. He (the manager told me $15.00 per 4 pack. I was so excited at this I really did not pay close attention to the large sum when she rang it up. It was scanned in the computer for approx $25 a 4 pack. I feel a bit overcharged. I can't really complain though.

Exactly...I had the good fortune of scoring a case of Heady, so I spread some seeds here and there. I've gotten plenty of Maine Beers including Lunch, Firestone Vintage stuff, and I can walk in anytime tomorrow when they get KBS knowing I have a few bottles on hold. I watched people wait in line in Philly for 4 hours for BCBS bottles. I got mine $3 less per bottle at my convenience. Trading can be brutal sometimes. I have 8 bomber of PseudoSue and still can't convince someone to part with even ONE Maine DINNER!

Do you need to take a time machine back to the 90's to get this beer from your "homey"?

That's about the last time spending $20/week at a beer store got you 'in'.

This my friend is exactly what I did. I became very dissatisfied with a huge but great store I won't name (but its initials are HT), and things could not have worked out better for me, either. I miss a few things, but I don't care anymore, I am over my FOMO. I'm friends with everyone in the store now, always give them some of whatever good I get, and they return the favors, heck the guy who works stock pours me samples from the growler taps if he thinks its something I might like, without me asking. Great folks.

Forget about Dinner. Trade for Epiphany or Swish instead
    You are welcome.

I think it's worth mentioning that beer trading accounts for a fairly decent amount of this "greediness". The fact is that beer trading creates secondary economy (shoutout to mercantilism!) where the possession of highly sought after beers is the most valuable form of currency. True, there are still hoarders, but mitigating the effect either of these types have on availability is a quagmire. There's no panacea except for a brewery to make more beer..

So the answer to the beer guy saving the good stuff for his friends, is to become one of his friends...? That's what I'm hearing...works for me:stuck_out_tongue:

Well, the only choices of action are to become a friend, or to remain anonymous, or to become an enemy

TW did this with KBS this year and from what I hear a lot of people got yelled at over it and they moved on to selling to general public like normal more quickly than they originally announced.

OP, I think many will tell you that bribery is an effective approach to getting limited releases held for you. It's worked for generations and across all corners of the globe so why not craft beer too? Yeah you want to get to know your chosen store's beer manager but what will seal the deal is to bring them in beer, especially out of distro or limited beer. There have been many threads on variations of this topic and you'll find a plethora of posts where people bring their person beer in exchange for access to limited releases. Folks aren't sharing beer out of the kindess of their hearts. Quid Pro Quo. It's done to get an 'in' on limited releases.

I'd say beer trading accounts for most "greediness" really. I completely agree with the currency aspect. Limited releases or brewery-only sales like Tree House are akin to Beer Trading ATMs for a good amount of people.
