so is the rent included in the price mentioned up top or would it cost nearly $11,000/month just to keep the lights on?

Curious if the outdated beer selling for over retail price is included in the sale price - anyone know?

Wow all three are up for sale. I wonder if he was going under or decided to get out at a profit? Or maybe Grocery stores and now Distributors being able to sell 12 packs and below saw his market share go down.

I guess charging a lot more than other stores because of "the lengths he had to go to" to get the beer didn't pay off.

The rent is not included in the one time purchase (e.g. $1.5 M).

    Cheers!

Has anyone heard any "rumors" about The Beer Store and Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co? The Beer Store Southampton posted on their page not to believe the rumors. I took a screen shot of the post but I think they may have removed it because I don't see it anymore....

Wonder if them selling SOHTC for $5/can has anything to do with this?

Trenton Road Takeout posted something this morning saying how they were going to stop promoting NCBC because NCBC wasn't distributing brewery exclusives to them (or any other store). TRT and NCBC got into a small pissing fight on Facebook and The Beer Store(s) jumped in to show their support for the brewery (mainly as a way of promoting their own stores) with that post.

About an hour after everything first happened, it was all deleted.

Yep. It was a small shit show. Can't upset SMAS and "the Queen of untapped".

So TRT is upset at breweries doing brewery-only releases?

I guess that does make them retail competition. But breweries already typically charge retail level pricing so as to not under-cut the distributors they are wholesaling too. So I guess I can see both sides of the argument. Those business negotiations should probably not take place in public.

The tweet mentioning the original message is still alive:

The owner of TRT, Sir Mix a Six, aka SMAS, made a post this morning saying that he was upset that NCBC decided to not allocate certain beers to his store (or any retailer) this year. I'm guessing he's referring to Blitzkreig Hops, since that's the only release change from last year so far. He went on to say that his place has stocked and supported NCBC from the start, even letting one of the owners host a tasting at the store when they first started out, and this is how he gets treated 5 years later. NCBC is now a competitor with his store, and is taking his business away. He also brought up his daughter, "The Queen of Untapped", and how this saddened her or some garbage. I frankly feel a bit dumber after typing this recap, but whatever.

Queue up a bunch of die hard customers saying that the NCBC staff sucked, that they will remain loyal to SMAS, with a few voices of reason stating that other breweries that have taprooms have brewery exclusive taps and bottles to drive traffic to their spots, etc. Keep in mind, when NCBC opened, they only had a super small room for samples and growler fills.

Then NCBC replied to the comments themselves, pretty much schooling SMAS, and effectively stating that if SMAS didn't want to sell their beer, that's his choice. SMAS then replied by stating he would be calling Bella Vista and cancelling his orders.

Then, the Queen of Untapped herself tried to get in on the action, calling someone a loser for pointing out that other breweries do the same thing as NCBC and have done so for years. The queen then got called out for attending brewery only bottle releases at NCBC on a regular basis.

Finally, the Beer Store Phildelphia posted a photo of the NCBC logo, stating that they were loyal suppliers of NCBC products and are good people. This caused a ripple effect of people commenting that the Beer Store price gouges NCBC products, the Beer Store then deleting all comments of that ilk, SMAS posting a screenshot of the Beer Store's status and calling them out for charging extra tax on all of their sales, and then both SMAS and the Beer Store wound up deleting all of the posts I've detailed above.

    JFC, I need a beer.

    Thanks for the laugh though!

Social media isn't good for business owners with no impulse control. Best to have popcorn ready.

Wait... these people refer to them selves as "Sir Mix A Six" and "The Queen of Untappd"? Might this place be worse than BSM?

what I'm getting out of all of this is that apparently the PA beer scene is professional wrestling.

I don't know which part of this great recap I enjoyed the most. The fact that TRT has self proclaimed "SMAS" and "Queen of Untapped" or the fact that the Beer Store decided they would go on a competitors page and throw stones when they themsleves have been known to have shady business practices. That is great theater.
