I am going to be staying at a hotel near DCA (Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel). What is the closest good beer store to the hotel? I am from San Antonio and want to bring back some items I cannot find here. Another cross country beer run.
Your options are limited, your best bet is to get on the metro and head into dc, or possibly rent a car for trips into the va suburbs.
metro to dupont circle (north)- go to the liquor store right across the street, then go to the whole foods at 14 and P, then hit Cairo liquors on the way back to the dupont circle metro. It will be about a 2 hour round trip (being super generous with walking and browsing).
...good god. I've done this...I don't even know, two dozen times? Excellent advice. The store in question is Connecticut Avenue Wine & Liquor Deli. It's at Connecticut and Q St NW. You can also go south (20th and P) and visit 1 West Dupont Circle Wines & Liquors. It tends to have a good selection, but...less than stellar pricing.
You can also metro (yellow or blue line) over to the King St Metro walk 2 block to Whole Foods. Pretty good selection and you can pick a growler or 2 as well. Typically they have something interesting or good on tap.
