Ive got family and friends that live up in this area and are willing to ship me local beers down to me in Texas. Can anyone point me in the right direction of 2-3 legit stores that carry quality craft beer? Stores preferrably in or near 60657. My family and friends arent big on the craft scene themselves so they wouldnt know where to start if I just them request. Id like to do as much legwork for them as possible by calling stores and findoing out in advance if they have brews Im looking for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know what you're doing, but you're doing it wrong. Searched for 60657:

I'm assuming this is one of your first experiences with the internet or forums. I just did a 18 second google and beermenu search and found more than a few beer stores in the area.

I felt bad at first for being a sarcastic bastard, but honestly man, the answers are right in front of your face.

There is a Binny's with a 60657 zip code. WestLakeView and Beer Temple are within walking distance, perhaps the 2 best independently owned beer stores in Chicago.
Sheffields is in the 60657 zip code, heck if your family members wanted to sample some local goodies before they send you out some.

Not in 60657, but just a few blocks away from there is Bottles and Cans, my absolute favorite liquor store. The owners Joe and Carly are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, full stop. And theyre the only place in Chicago (that I know of) that lets you break apart any 4/6pk in the store.
Beer Temple is nice, and Chris Quinn is knowledgeable, generous, and welcoming, but nobody takes more of a genuine interest in their customers like Joe and Carly.

Let's agree to disagree  (I'm not welcoming or generous)

Kidding aside, B&C is one of the best shops in the city and Joe and Carly are super nice. I'm sure anyone visiting from out of town would be more than taken care of there.

I'm sure if you sent them over to The Beer Temple quinnsi (Chris) would steer them in the right direction. The last time I stopped in I he had Citra Ninja that was just under 4 hours old I believe. Most of the time he has a few bottles out for tasting. Maybe he can get them hooked

I second Beer Temple and Bottles & Cans. They blow away just about any other shop in the city IMO.

I've seen mention of West Lakeview, and while it's also one of my favorite shops, it's not great for local stuff besides Pipeworks. They're much better at imports.
