    Hey all,
I'll be in NYC for a couple of days over Christmas. I won't have much time for beer shopping, but would like to hit up a decent bottle shop near our hotel, quickly if possible. We'll be staying in Midtown, but not exactly sure where yet. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks!

I meant to add, I'm also interested in beer bars within a short cab ride, as well.

Good Beer isn't to far from midtown and has a very good selection. Its address is 422 East 9th Street.
The whole foods on Houston and Bowery also has an extensive beer selection.

There aren't any good bottle shops in midtown (at least as far as I know). Your best bet is to head downtown where you've got four good spots all within walking distance of each other (Whole Foods Bowery, New Beer, Top Hops, Good Beer).

Thanks guys. I appreciate the tips. Was thinking of hitting up Rattle N Hum and/or Gingerman, but didn't know about Beer Authority. I guess I may just have to go Downtown, too.

Just download the beermenus app and you'll get a list of most beer stores and bars in the area you're in.. Hope this helps.

If you end up somewhat uptown, City Swiggers at 86th and 2nd is fairly good. The BEST selection I know of near "midtown" is the Whole Foods in Chelsea. It's good, but it's not a destination by any means. The one on Houston is better.
