Driving up to Burlington, MA from lower CT. Looking for a good beer store to stop at for some Mass beers. I take Mass Pike to 95 up through Lexington to Burlington. Plan on stopping at Lord Hobo again and hopefully Treehouse while I'm up there. Any good stores along the route anyone can suggest? And any other breweries to stop by?
Redstone liquors in Stoneham is arguably the best store north of Boston. It's a short drive from Burlington. Also check out Liquor Junction in Reading. Also a short distance from Burlington
Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge isn't far from Tree House. Near 84/Mass Pike. Huge store with lots of stuff you don't see in CT.
In Burlington MA, check out Wegman's, the supermarket, just past the mall. Sometimes some surprising finds there. Also, check out Burlington Wine & Spirits next to the Market Basket on Middlesex Turnpike, about a half mile from the mall.
Wormtown is Worcester. Julio's in Westboro has been getting Trillium bottles. They probably have the largest selection in the state. Also a Cold Harbor is close. Jack's Abby is off the pike as well.
Julio's Liquors in Westborough is only a 10 minute or so detour. From Mass Pike, take I-495 north one exit to Rt. 9 west, then Julio's is around 1 mile down the road, left at the traffic light then right into the plaza (opposite the Chipotle).
Hit any of the Craft Beer Cellars basically. You can buy singles of any beer in the store. I think there's one in Winchester (right next to Burlington). Also I think Julios is somewhat close to Burlington.
And if you're stopping at Tree House I've heard Yankee Spirits is a must stop but I've never been there myself.
Thanks guys! Looks like I have a route all planned out. Stopping at Yankee Spirits and Julio's on my way up and while in Burlington for the week check out Liquor Junction and Redstone. And the last few times I've been in the area I always stopped at Burlington Wine and Spirits, Georgio's Liquor and I really like the Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont (the Winchester store didn't have as nice of a selection last time). Question though about Tree House. I see on their website it says Wednesday's is can sales only. Do they also sell cans the other days they are open? And what kind of lines should I expect? I'm in the area for work and won't be out of work until 4-5pm each day. Wednesday is says only until 6pm, so I was thinking Thursday since they are open until 8 and I could get there by 6-7pm. Would I be shit out of luck getting there that late?
If you are only getting cans, it is a pretty quick in and out in general. If you want growlers, there is where your wait is. If you get there later on Thursday they may have cut off growler cards but you can likely still get cans. For time constraints, that is the way I would go.
Got out of work early so got to Treehouse at 3:45. 98th in line. Doors opened at 4:15. Got cans and growlers and was out of there by 5. Only thing that sucked was standing in the pouring rain, but it was well worth it.
Nice. Did you stop in Yankee Spirits? They had stacks of Night Shift and some decent Trillium bombers when I stopped tonight. I was probably half an hour behind you at TH.
I stopped there on my way up on Sunday. Great Selection. But, I have to say Redstone Liquor has the best selection I've seen up here. Got a nice stock pile over the week. Santilli, Publick House, Launch Beer, Pot & Kettle, Boomsauce, Steal this Can, Consolation Prize, A Year with Dr. Nandu, Be Hoppy, and now Julius, Sap and Doppleganger. Going to have to clear a lot of room in the fridge.
