I'm fairly new to the beer scene and appreciate everyone that has shared beers with me. I always try to bring beers when I go to friends houses granted they are just off the shelf but I'm never stingy with them. I usually give my beer friends the run down of what I have and ask what they would like for the night.

With the mooch I would pour him a glass and then address the entire group with something like this "This is XXX beer, I hope you all enjoy because we sure know that ____________ won't bring anything for us to drink" Call his ass out and hopefully embarrass him. Maybe he will get the hint. If not then just don't invite him anymore.

Tell the second guy that you'll buy a bag of ice for his unchilled beer.

I always bring a cooler of ice to chill down beer. It's a necessity in this hot-ass state (especially when doing tastings outside in the summer).

We allow folks to attend out tastings without even bringing beer. You ARE expected to bring water (for drinking and washing out glasses) and food, however, if you don't have beer to bring. Showing up to just mooch is not acceptable.

As long as they appreciate what they are drinking I don't have a problem but I understand what your saying.

Unfortunately it sounds like this guy views the "share" as an opportunity to try a lot of great beer without committing much of his own, rather than an opportunity to really share the wealth with his drinking buddies. Probably time to stop inviting him, or just tell him straight out what the issue is - whichever you're more comfortable with.

Personally, I try to never go to a share with less than 4 bottles in my bag, and I go out of my way to make sure everything I bring gets opened, because I didn't bring it with me to take it back home.

Why not just tell him to kick in with some good stuff, or have a pre planned tasting and everyone brings shit beer.
