I am interested to know how much everyone cares about the temperature of their beer as they are consuming it and if it affects your drinking habits. To be clear, I am not referring to the serving temperature, which we can control fairly easy. I am referring to the temperature from the first sip to the last. I could ask a lot of questions, but narrowed it down to three quick ones...

    1. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being very important), how important to you is the temp. of your beer as you are consuming it?

    2. Does temp. ever impact the rate at which you consume your beer (e.g. as beer warms do you drink faster) or do you generally consume your beer before temp. is an issue?

    3. Do you use any products to help regulate the temp. of your beer, such as a koozie? If so, what?

    2. It can
    3. My hands cupping a snifter to warm it up is about as far as this goes for me. I cannot stand beer koozies.

    2. To a degree. Sometimes if it's a heavy stout, I'll slow down when it starts to get warm... until it's too warm and I just put it down.
    3. I'm not opposed to using a koozie if it's in a can, depending on style - pale ale? Sure, I'm not too good for that, depending on where I am and which beer it is.

    2. Depends on the style of beer (I don't mind if my stouts get warm, they actually taste better that way)
    3. I only use a koozie if I'm tailgaiting for a football game

    2. Beer usually warms by the end, but it doesn't effect my rate of consumption
    3. No, my basement stays at about 65, that's a good starting temperature for me

    1) 4.5 Imp Stouts, Barleywines ,Quads I want 50-60F ( sometimes last winter my house wasn't much warmer.) A SNPA I can drink ice cold , but would rather drink @ 40-45F.
    2) A high gravity beer at or near room temp I can savor for a very long time. Whether I'm eating or need to finish a beer to go somewhere , a game ending, wanting to open a different beer all matter much more than temperature. In the rare case my beer starts to get too warm there is always the power drink.
3)They don't make koozies that fit my glassware.

    2. Yes. The warmer the beer is, the faster I drink it so it doesn't get too warm.
    3. I only use koozies at music festivals or other outdoor excursions.

    1. I pour all my beer straight from the fridge even though ti is important. I would say 4. What ever the temp when it started depending on the beer it will arrive at it's perfect temp at some point. I usually want to write a review so I want a good look at the beer and I want to spend a little time with the nose which is why all my photos have no head on the beer.

    2. No temperature can not make me drink a beer faster or slower.

    3. No.

    1. About 4, overall, but more so with higher gravity and darker beers

    2. I have often adjusted reviews while typing them up, including rating values, and usually try to indicate in the review when I feel the temperature has affected my review (usually to say let the beer warm a bit, since my experience is that bars aren't able to [economically] have different tap temps).

    3. I have ordered a nice RIS halfway into the current beer to let it warm before I start it.

1: 5 - Super important based on the style

2: Some styles I like at room temperature (stouts, specially big barrel aged ones). Other styles I like at ~50 degrees (sours/saisons). Others I like ice cold (IPA). When IPA's warm I stop drinking them. All else threes no effect on rate of consumption

    3: No

    1. 3.5 although I typically take a stout out of the fridge and let it sit out for 30 minutes before opening and consuming
    2. No, temp does not affect that, but style does. If its a huge barrel aged stout I'll sip on it, but if it's an IPA or Pale ale or something like that I usually drink those faster regardless.
    3. No, except for cupping my hand around snifter like others have stated.

    1. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being very important), how important to you is the temp. of your beer as you are consuming it?

I'd say 5. I like my IPAs cold, my Saisons slightly chilled, and my Stouts at room temperature.
    2. Does temp. ever impact the rate at which you consume your beer (e.g. as beer warms do you drink faster) or do you generally consume your beer before temp. is an issue?

Depends on the style. If my IPA is getting warm I tend to drink it faster because I prefer it on the colder side. If my RIS is too cold I will wait for it to warm up before drinking it.
    3. Do you use any products to help regulate the temp. of your beer, such as a koozie? If so, what?

I use a koozie if drinking outside and from the bottle. Otherwise, I use a fridge to keep my beer cold and my hands to warm it up.

Since I basically only drink higher ABV beers (stouts, scotch ales, barley wines) I love pouring them at refrigerator temp into my trusty Stone tulip glass and then very slowly (an hour or so) letting it warm as I sip to see the changes that take place with smell and taste. Part of the overall "experience".

    2. I find it easier to drink cool beer rather than ice cold beer. I don't understand people who have to drink their beer "ice cold". People would always laugh at me for that, but I could taste the beer more easily at slightly warmer temperatures and that was/ is more satisfying to me. I don't mind near warm temperature beer.

    1) 5 I like it cold, all of it. Hate on me if you must and I know its weird but I like everything cold. Some beers I don't mind if they warm a bit while drinking them but as a general rule for me cold is better.
2)Not really, the ABV governs my pace more than anything
3)Yes, I have a few can and bottle koozee's in my freezer for the rare occasion I am drinking from the bottle or can on a hot day.

I like my beer cold, even stouts. I know the beer will warm in the 23 minutes it takes me to drink it and that's fine. But I prefer to start cold. I was served a tepid stout at a local brewery once, I suppose they thought they were being clever but by the time I finished the beer it was way too warm.
