Everyone's got at least one - a beer that's just a total shelf bomb near them that other people would trade at least their middle child for. You take it for granted - maybe it's Sip in parts of Connecticut, or maybe it's something as simple as FBS just stacked to the ceilings in your local bottle shop.

    What's yours?

I'm not going to include (for my example, at least) anything brewery only, so Trillium is out, by and large. Maybe for me it's something like Clown Shoes Breakfast Exorcism, which just sits on the shelves at my closest beer shop, waiting for me to inevitably walk in and grab yet another one on a whim.

I guess maybe Jai Alai. Some people go crazy for it on the other side of the country, but it's very common here in FL. Gas stations have it.

Pseudosue always available and not bad at $10 a 4 pack, sometimes 7 when it's on sale.

Probably one of the many mass brewed, easily attainable imported lagers that don't get too much attention these days (on here at least). Spaten Original, Pilsner Urquell (that express cold shipping program and bottle redesign did wonders IMO even if it's just marketing tricks), Kostritzer, Warsteiner, Weihenstephan Pils. I have also been enjoying some of the new-ish (revival) beers Pabst has been putting out lately such as Ballantine IPA, Ballantine Burton Ale, Ballantine Brewers Gold (really solid golden ale; try it if you see it) and finally the most unsung hero of them all: Old Tankard Ale. Damn how I adore that beer.

On the craft beer front, I love pretty much all of the Jack's Abby beers. House Lager and their winter seasonal Red Tape Lager are both criminally underrated in my opinion. Glad that it finally made it's way over to PA so I don't have to load up the car every time I go back home to MA.

We get tons of beer distributed in Maryland but really not much of anything in my local stores that is hot on the trade circuit that is easy to get at a beer store shelf. Most of the good stuff we get is already widely distributed in the region or US (mostly imported in to Maryland). There isn't anything "world class" that I can think of that is distributed well / easy to get in our local area that others outside really clammer to trade for. Some Manor Hill cans and Double Duckpin by Union are usually pretty easy to find in stores and have some slight trade bait value. Only other one that is easy to get on store shelves (only in select parts of Maryland though), is Stillwater Gose Gone Wild.

Plenty of great beers available in NYC, but big city = big competition. So in terms of shit that people would foam at the mouth for that's available super easily - nothing comes to mind

Well except for bourbon county haha

i'm not sure how widespread it is across the country but i can easily get multiple cases (easily upwards of 10 cases but i only get 2) of Troegs Nugget Nectar. i love that shit, every year it's easily available here in bottles and cans (i'm all about the cans).

i'm also stoked that Conclave brewing in Flemington, NJ has been putting out killer beer. they don't can/bottle or sell in store but they're on draft in town and you can get growlers at the brewery. a true small craft brewery that has beer you need to try

Zombie Dust. As far as retail, it's delivered every Thursday mornings and the 2-4 cases delivered to the shops are usually sold out by the early evening (every store is one 6-pack limit). FFF is 30 mins from me and available nearly all week now (never on the weekends) usually 0-4 days fresh. So, it's not a "shelf turd", but if I need it I can get it.

But I see people going nuts over ZD and I don't think I've bought a sixer in 6 mos. or so. And it's not bc I don't love it or think it's not world class. I just take it for granted

Pliny, I get it pretty regularly. I live pretty close to the Brewery.

I drank my first Jai Alai the other day. As a very infrequent IPA drinker, you Floridians really do have something special there. Cheers.

Pliny - Much easier to get in Northern California these days. I much rather drink Cellarmaker, Modern Times, or Sante these days.

@tzieser Since Pilsner Urquell showed up in pounders I have seen a marked improvement in that beer as well.

As for beers I take for granted, ba yeti is an amazing beer, probably the best BA stout coming out of CO, and I can pick up 15 and 16 together from most bottle.shops right now.

I live in a small town in South GA about an hour North of Florida. Jai Alai literally gathers dust on the shelves here. I buy it occasionally, but usually pass it up for the locals that I prefer (Burnt Hickory, Three Taverns, or Creature Comforts).

Used to take Boulevard for granted. Now that I'm out of distribution I really miss the Smoke Stack Series and wished I tried more of their general lineup

I take for granted significantly more than half of the beers I've already tried. 9 times out of 10 I'll opt for something new. I wish I could get the same level of enjoyment out of retrying stuff, but the fact is there are very few beers that I genuinely enjoy retrying so much that I'll pick it over something new. But this is a "feels" thing, has nothing to do with rationality. I can't change the way I feel! I am ticker incarnate.

To give one specific example however, I'm going to have to say regular Bourbon County. That stuff flows like water over here.

I was thinking Pliny or some of their sours. The Firestone box releases are another that came to mind.

I'd have to say PseudoSue and FBS. Both are world class, but there's no shortage of either around these parts.

@SammyJaxxxx just mentioned Conclave to me last night as a place to hit up when Im in Jersey over the Holidays - looking forward to stopping in there.

For me, I guess it would be BCBS - its not hard to get it here in Chicago if you go out and look for it. But hearing how hard it is to get elsewhere around the country, makes me realize how much I take it for granted here.

Either Olde Hickory Event Horizon or whatever new Wicked Weed flavor happens to be out at the time.
