    Hey fellow BAs,
I'm cooking lamb meatballs in a chunky tomato sauce that has some balsamic vinegar and served over couscous for my girlfriend because it's our fourth anniversary and I wanted to get some opinions on what beer would go well with such a dish. I was thinking maybe a dunkel or maybe a lighter scotch ale but I'm not convinced by those ideas. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

I would try a not-too-hoppy IPA...something that won't kill your palate but is solid enough to stand up to the boldness of lamb.

Are you putting mint in your meatball? Maybe a spicy saison of sorts or rye.

Fall, meat. Dopplebock, scotch ale (wee heavy), Imperial Porter. Rye is a great idea, Rugbrod or Ithaca 15.

I personally don't like browns, but DFH Indian Brown is good, if you need to have a strong hop presence.

Spicy Saison idea great too, just had Oddland and that boy is peppery.

I was a chef while putting myself through college. I got to eat a lot of lamb- nice sounding dinner you got planned.

Yeah I'd try and match the acidic profile of the tomatoes and vinegar and the strong lamb taste with a Flanders or Oud Bruin which both have acidity and color. I'd stay away from hops since there's little fat.
