    Hey All -

Perhaps one of you has had a similar beer trade experience to the one I'm currently in the midst of... On Tuesday I dropped off a beer trade package at FedEx with its destination being San Diego set to arrive on Saturday. I have shipped from this location to SD at least 10 times with no issues.

When Saturday rolled around the package still had not arrived... We tracked it and it noted that it's last known location was in Nashville where I shipped from. So, I called customer service today. They said they weren't sure what has happened to the package and they are "opening an investigation." I have no idea what could have happened to the package or why it's last known location is where I shipped it from...

Anyone experienced something like this and could shed some light on the situation?

You've done all you can do, unfortunately.

I only had this happen once & it turned out a scan (or two) was missed, & the package showed up the following Tuesday. Hopefully that's what happened to your too!

FedEx lost a packaged mine. Included BA Abraxas, Abraxas, sump etc. the investigation waS a joke. I eventually told them what was in the box as I was at least hoping to get the beer back and it sounded like they were looking through the "lost and found" area. It never left St. Louis according to the scans. I tried to see if I could drive up there and look through lost and found area myself but they wouldn't let me. The BA Abraxas was my baby. So then claim was obviously then denied because it was alcohol. I was mad and argued with them for weeks to no avail.

Since then I have started writing to and from on the box with marker to ensure my box can be identified even if shipping tag comes off. I also tape the sh*t out of the shipping label. I don't let them use those plastics label holders any more.

agreed with above your label got ripped off on the first conveyor line on the local sort. It is sitting in overgoods, you are not getting it out without a description of what is in the box and once they know it is booze you aren't getting it back. They handle 100,000's of boxes a day, something will happen eventually.

I also don't use the labels anymore. Tape your label front to back on your own, not counting on their labels to stand up.

So if it really is gone, you might be able to file a claim and get 100 bucks out of it. However, you would have to lie on the claim and say it's something other than beer. This might not be worth the risk.

I've not had any issues with FedEx, but the reason I switched from UPS was pretty frustrating/ultimately funny.

Last July I went to Chicago for work and so naturally I bought $200 of local beers. It was a Tuesday and I told some friends to come over Friday night for a Midwest tasting. Because I had so much beer I packed them into two boxes. One I shipped expedited 2 day air to San Fransisco so that it would arrive Thursday in time to chill for the tasting (like $190 shipping lol). The other one I just shipped ground.

I got back to SF on Wednesday, and on Thursday an appointment cancelled so I decided to work from home. My office is literally right above the front door and you can't even sneak up the stoop without me knowing. I was working all morning and all the sudden I got a UPS notification that the package was delivered. I was confused, but still went down and checked. Nothing. So I called UPS to let them know. They said that they wouldn't check with the driver and that because I'd requested no signature necessary (since I thought I'd be working) they wouldn't even investigate. I was pissed and haven't used them since. Seriously a driver could just get his signature packages delivered first, then just keep or toss any no-signature-required packages in the trash and face no reprimand.

Anyway, a funny part is that the ground package actually arrived a day early in time for the tasting. But the best part was in September my wife and I went out to dinner. As we are walking back up to the house I see a package. I knew from about 30 feet away what it was due to the Half Acre coloring on the box. So it all worked out in the end... But still fuck UPS lol
