I think the best option for bad traders is to have a Stickied thread with the list and an explanation why they are there (similar to the way the google document is set up).

My vote would be to write on the person's wall for a good trader, and create a thread if there is a bad trader. Bad trader threads need to be viewed asap by everyone who does trades so they can avoid whoever the thread is about. A lot of time the bad trader is negotiating trades with lots of people at once when things get ugly.

I would think the second part would work better, perhaps in its own forum.

For example, I trade with someone, they start a thread with "ms11781" as the title and then they post feedback.

Maybe an unofficial rule that the trader in question be contacted to let them know that someone is going to leave some bad feedback (I would assume that this would happen anyway).

Once you have traded and a thread has been made maybe you put the link in your profile to avoid duplicate threads about the same trader.

Obviously anyone can post in any thread so something would have to be figured out as far as taking each thread seriously (i.e not posting bad trader alerts about a regular trader/tasting buddy/friend even in jest).

The system definitely needs some work and I'm sure there are some glaring issues that I haven't seen with the ideas I threw out.

i wouldn't like something like that, since it would involve empowering a moderator to arbitrate good/bad traders.

what about a stickied thread that links to "bad trader dispute" threads?

e.g. JohnSwindler rips off UnfortunateSap. UnfortunateSap would then make a bad trader thread. mod adds it to the sticky. if the dispute is resolved, maybe you can even petition the mod to get the thread removed from the list.

thus, while you're still kind of burned if you get a "bad trader: you" thread into the sticky, it will be less on some single arbitrator to judge if you deserve it. rather, you can defend yourself in the thread, and prospective trading partners can decide if you're trustworthy.

Beer trader feedback forum is not really necessary. It'll get too cluttered and become useless. Besides, you guys are going to put "something" in place soon enough, so we can all just wait longer. Untill then, everyone will have to have their wits about them.

What would be useful is being able to BM someone about their FT/ISO. All these replies in the thread just act as mass bumping, pushing other requests down the page even faster. People are too lazy to go through the maze to start a "conversation," no matter how short that maze may be.

    Cheers,
    Jeff

I think a bad trader thread is good. Better than what was before and a few people had google docs on their profile page and it was always added to.

Kind of like the previous FT: ISO forum where no replies can be made to the thread and the person posting can delete the posting if the situation is resolved. The poster must put why posting. Can not be stuff like bad extras, or trivial stuff. has to be a legit reason. An open forum will help prevent stuff that was going on in the general trading thread.

I didn't vote because I need more information to decide whether it is an idea I like or not. I would vote "YES" for something like this:

    - heavily moderated and monitored closely
    - 1 thread per user where traders post positive or negative experience
    - no mention of extras: only whether trade is good or bad and why
    - OP is allowed to edit/reply indeffinitlely

also... what will be done if false feedback (good or bad) is provided?

Survey technology?? Those two new techs already deserve a raise!

I vote "yes" for being able to use surveys. Haha!

On another trading website I frequent, everyone creates their own "Rep thread" and when a trade is done, both parties can give each other "+rep" on the rep threads, with some details on the trade.

That makes sense to me. I still like a feedback system like RB has better, but that would be a decent substitute in the meantime.
