I miss the pre blackout BA when it was post only,

If you are offering a good trade youll get messages, if not well then you better rethink what your offering...

Im tired of seeing offers as responses to ISO:FT threads... You can send a private message to the OP that way your not bumping threads..

Isnt the point of this forum (Beer Trading General/Help) where you can ask questions about trade value, put out feelers, request bottle information? Why is it happening in the ACTUAL trade forum?

There isn't a market or a community without talking and public messaging...

If you don't like seeing offers then don't look at the offers... easy as that. Sure there is some meaningless "BM sent", but if you don't like it then ignore it, its not like it effects your health and well being.

The bros. have decided to allow us responses back as long as we all play nice. They've also said that eventually there will be moderators worked into things- hopefully keeping those cantankerous posters at bay.

I think 90%+ of the BAs get it, there's just a sad 10% who feel they need to protect their beers or shoot down other people's offers. I've actually been impressed at the self-policing so far.

I vote keep 'em, as more dialogue is better (for the most part) and most of us can behave ourselves. I look forward to the day where we run the negative nancys out of town on a rail.

People don't really put out feeler and ask about trade value before posting ISO:FT. When they feel it right, they'll post it. Rarely I see a trade feeler. Actually I learn much more about beer value from ISO:FT forum now instead of this one. I vote to keep 'em open.

you can arrange to view them by original post date if you wish- that way bumps won't matter.

I too have been surprised by the overall constraint people have shown in the new forums. The topics that do get thread shit on...well...kind of deserve it (very subjective of me to say, I know...but you know what I mean). A lot of useful information pops out (bottle counts, release dates, possible [noted] infections, etc.) that wouldn't have been shown in the post only forums...and also you don't see nearly any of the "what would this get?" topics anymore.

For now I say keep them as they are.

I am shocked it has been so civil. As a community, people have been doing a solid job of keeping it civil in the new ISO:FT forum, which is great because I like the dialogue.

    Dialogue = community
    No dialogue = marketplace

How about we do the best of both worlds -- allow the creator of the thread to decide whether it's Post Only or not. That way, the sensitive little *********s that can't handle criticism can make themselves immune to it, and the rest of us big boys can engage in entertaining discussions without being hamstrung by the over-sensitivity of others.

Some of the most entertaining and memorable threads I've ever read on this board were the result of ISO:FT posts. I've never understood why some people felt like the ISO:FT board needed to be this peaceful inner sanctum of tranquility completely devoid of opinion or disagreement. The rest of the boards on here aren't.

Why not just fix it by having replies not bump the post up. Best of both worlds.

I WANT them to do that. I prefer seeing threads that are active, and just BMed a guy about a trade I wouldn't have seen if it hadn't shown up on "What's New?" Besides, as has been stated twice now in this thread (and multiple times in every other thread on this topic) you can change it to do that if you want.

I think the best option would be to allow replies, but aggressively moderate them to remove pointless "BM sent" or other stuff which is best left for BM.
