So recently I was trying to look up a beer that someone offered up for trade and my typical action is to open a new window, search the 'beer name' and 'beer advocate' together in Google (i.e. "sexual chocolate beer advocate") and the first link to appear is generally the details page containing reviews, scores, etc.

For this particular beer though, there was no listing as it was a brand new release. Instead, the first result in the Google search was indeed the thread from the ISO/FT forum. This has prompted thought on how since typically boxes are sent against the rules of most shipping companies with regards to licensing and age-verification, etc, what's to ultimately keep said companies from pursuing action against the open trading forum to crack down on the rule-breaking practice? Not to mention, those that use the USPS disregarding all suggestions not to.

So basically, is there a way for that particular segment of our community to not be Google-searchable? Other message boards are private in that regard, so why would one of the most highly populated websites devoted to the topic of beer remain vulnerable to exterior eyes, etc. Full disclosure is that as such an active member of that sub-forum, I'd hate to come on and find it to be gone one day due to outside pressure. lol

Anyone else with thoughts/concerns on this? Is the Trading forum indeed viewable to non-members (meaning anyone not signed in)?

    Cheers.

Trading forums are viewable to all, member or not. At least, a quick test in private browsing (where I'm not signed in to BA) seems to indicate that.

The Beer Trading forums are viewable by anyone. We have no desire to make them viewable by logged in members only (pointless, as anyone can become a member), nor are we concerned as the discussions being had are not illegal.
