There are plenty of other cool things to do in both New England and Colorado, so those could be factors too. Based on the non-beer activities, I'd go with Colorado in a heartbeat (though New England is nice too.)

This is the right answer, if beer is your main criteria.

If we are including a "few hour radius" all of a sudden la cumbre becomes an option.

I voted for Denver. Been to Boston 4 times (although all were pre-Beer Advocate days) and Denver/CO once and would take the vacation aspects of Colorado anyday over Boston. Although clam chowder on a cold night in an old NE pub with a great beer is always tough to beat.

I vote for Denver. Lots of breweries. Check out the walking tours or guided beer tours in downtown Denver. Check out the New Belgium tour. SO MUCH BEER AND SO LITTLE TIME! Cheers!

I'd say trade for NE juice bombs, but go to Denver. There's a lot more to do there and a higher quantity of excellent breweries brewing a greater variety of excellent beer. It'll also be a far cheaper trip on top of that. You can even get Pliny the Elder in Denver, so who needs the North East?
