I'm having a blind IPA tasting at my house at the end of the month, and I plan on doing some beer trivia questions throughout the event with the winner taking home a cool pint glass or gift cert to a beer store. I've done some Google searches and come up with some questions on my own, but I thought I might get some good ones from here. So does anybody have any good beer trivia? I'm in Rochester, NY, so if anybody from the area has any regional beer questions that would be cool as well. Thanks!
Search the local breweries in your area on the interwebz and go to their about us section. See when they started, how many BBL they produce each year, how many states they distro to. Shouldnt be too difficult to make some questions for a trivia contest. Also, dont wanna make them too hard for your guests. Cheers!
How beer geeky are your friends? You could go with something simple that any beer geek should know, like how many different styles of westy are there and what are the numbers associated with each one? Or go with something harder like what states does "brewery x" distribute to?
First iipa, biggest craft brewery in ny, largest barrel program, wild yeasts, biggest brewery in a belgium, oldest American brewery, best selling ipa, first American ipa...
Take a photo of something at one of the local brewpubs (or a series of them at multiple brewpubs), i.e. a picture on the wall, or a close-up of a tap, etc. and see who can identify it.
How about a NY centric bit of beer history, such as "What was the first micro-brewed beer on the east coast?" A: Newman's Albany Amber, 1981 more info, including a bit about how Jim Koch worked there in the early days: http://jbojangles.blogspot.com/2007/08/history-lesson-william-s-newman-brewing.html
