I brewed an experimental/throw together beer (all grain) that I used second runnings and put on top of an old yeast cake I had. It was a basically a brown ale with had been beefed up with sugar like a Belgian. Fermented great, tasted awesome and bottle carbed. 2 weeks after it was great then I tried one the other night and it is now sour, and not good sour but spoiled sour. Any idea what the cause may be, cant find anything but it was great until 4 weeks after bottling.

    Sounds like it's infected.

Definitely infected. Have you tried any more? Are all bottles infected or just some?

Sounds like the batch had a significant sanitation problem. The old yeast cake is a likely suspect but there are obviously many other possibilities. You will have to investigate your personal brewery space and system to figure out where things went wrong. Cleanliness and sanitation trump pretty much everything else for homebrewers, at least until you have it down cold.

Definately looks like either the bottles where infected or somewhere along the way something got infected!
