Looks to be about 176 VIP tickets, too. I never felt it was too crowded last year so I don't know if the early access hour is entirely worth it (to say nothing of the t-shirt!). Maybe the VIP-only bathrooms are really nice?

Speaking of beer events, I'm kind of surprised that there are still tickets available for the Goose Island party. $75 is steep, but it does include food and drink. I wonder if it's because the event hasn't gotten much press? The official Goose Island facebook page has been silent about it even though the event will include beers from Fulton and the brewpub (that's my assumption, at least).

When Stout Fest tickets are $40 cheaper at the same venue, even with 'food pairings' included, it just doesn't seem like there is enough value to justify the price, no matter what gets tapped.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet either, but have a feeling once we see a taplist I'll be regretful.

:grimacing::grimacing: 40 bucks for unlimited cherry, vanilla, coffee, '09, blackberry BCS and the five clybourn brewpub stouts as well as 50 other stouts from Pipeworks to Destihl wasn't worth the price?????:grimacing::grimacing:

I think you read my post wrong, or I wrote it in an odd way. I was referring to the fact that Stout Fest was $35 a ticket, and the Anniversary Event is $40 more expensive - which makes it tough to justify considering how great Stout Fest was/is for exactly the reasons you reference.

ahhhh I get ya, but that's an extra 35 bucks for food pairings, an extra hour, and I'd bet my bottom dollar on some kind of special glassware and possible even some other chotckie or possible bottle. The description also said RARE bottles and experimental beers, hell I'd probably pay 100 bucks for something featuring rare and/or old bottles of BCS or the three sisters or their siblings/blends. I cursed my wife because she's in a wedding that day otherwise I'd be there in a heartbeat.

don't completely disagree, but black friday sold out very quickly even with added sessions at the same price

We probably should have just started a separate thread about the Goose party, but...

How much was the Black Friday event in November? And that was, what, ~20oz of beer + glass + '09 bomber? Not to mention you had to clear out of the room so that they could prep for other sessions?

BUG and the 25th Anniversary Party are going to be my only two CCBW events, I think. Until, that is, Revolution announces whatever they have planned... I don't know which will be feeling worse after those 10 days - my wallet or my liver.

greatly looking forward to both of these... BUG is simply an awesome event in an AMAZING venue, and I have no doubts Goose will bring it for their 25th Anniversary. 25 years is a BIG deal.

The other thing to consider for the Goose party is that it is on Mother's Day weekend. That is what made it difficult for me.

I hate all of you. After hearing your rational, reasoned arguments, I caved and grabbed a pair.

All is right in Chicagoland -- the 25th Anniversary Party is now showing as 'sold out'. For a while there, I thought it was some sort of sick April Fool's Joke, what with a Chicagoland beer event not selling out. Phew!

Looks like BUG still has ~150 VIP tickets, though.

Had to put in names for attendees on tickets. Not sure if they will be transferable or not.
