I couldn't make it to last year's Beer Under Glass, so just wondering what to expect this year. Any inside info on what beers will be available? I've seen the brewery list, but that means nothing. I saw pictures last year of buckets filled with Juliet. That alone is enough to make me happy.

Last year rocked. GI had great selections, half acre had some great one time stuff. I am really looking forward to this.

Looking forward to it too. Wonder if Goose Island will open any of the new Mae or Scarlet?

I'll be working it (and exploring new beers)

Make sure to stop by Destihl, folks and say "Hi!"

They had it on draft at Goose Island Clybourn Stout Fest. It was the best non-Goose Island beer there.

I'm hoping for the same. Otherwise, Scarlett will make an appearance at Small Bar on Tuesday.

Scarlett will also be at Whole Foods in Lincoln Park on Saturday, along with Lolita. I'll be there!

    Scarlett gets tapped at noon.

I assume it will last a few hours, but can't say for sure. Whole Foods did a GI tapping last year with VBCS and lasted quite a while. It doesn't get too crazy there. However, a lot has changed in the Chicago craft beer scene in the past year...

lucky! we were talking to some GI employees that day and they were saying that they were going to tap the Cherry at some point during the week. but they never announced it. how was it?

it was excellent. i remember being there on a coincidence and they were going to tap it but the next available tap was not quite ready to be pulled. one of the bartenders was giving samples of it (i forget what it was, maybe a GI). it still wouldn't kick. i kept asking if it was almost there (i knew him) eventually he's like ahh screw it. he tapped it and it was great. i waited there for an hour and half (i had heard it was going to tap immediately) anyway, i had called over a couple of buddies to try it as well.

so fruity but not too much where it was overwhelming. i haven't had bramble yet but i'd love to compare it once i do. is was definitely BCS love. as far as it tapping and announcing it, i don't think they normally do. i was there a few weeks ago and had plead the fifth, i went there a week later , still there. i'm sure it's gone now.

Any thoughts on the event? I had a good time, overall -- a lot of decent beers, a couple exceptional and a few that were downright terrible. I did notice a lot of wits and pale ales -- not exactly catering to a "beer geek" crowd and while I didn't really have a problem with that, I can imagine that if someone went hoping for really unusual or different beers, they might have walked away disappointed.

Destihl, Goose Island (Fulton), Haymarket and Half Acre really brought the goods, I thought (though Goose bringing Matilda and Green Line... well, see above re "mainstream" offerings). For anyone who is curious what the difference is between Scarlett and Lolita since they're both wild ales with raspberries, Lolita started life as Matilda while Scarlett started as Sofie (I'm sure it's more complicated than that but it seemed like a succinct enough explanation to me!).

I could complain about the food options -- in that they seemed to disappear awfully quick but the line up of food trucks afterwards made up for it. However, $2 for water? After spending $40 to get in, they should have provided water at least to each tap station so we could give glasses some sort of a rinse.

What were some of the awesome beers being offered? Half Acre? Goose Island? Lay it on us.

Half Acre had Galactic Double Daisy, Meat Wave, Daisy and Chocolate Camaro to start the night. Not sure if the Galactic was an old keg from last August or if they are brewing it again.

Goose (fulton) brought 2 kegs of BCS Coffee, the previously mentioned Scarlett, Green Line and Matilda. Goose (brewpub) had Maude, Gold Smoke, Roub's Rubb and something else I can't remember.

The Galactic was kegged that morning, according to one of the guys from Half Acre.
