Beer when congested.

No beer, tequila!

 

I've been holding out on some Heady because of my congestion. Got it the day after I got sick. I'm slowly getting my taste and smell back, but I want to be 100% so I can pull in the full experience.

 

Drinking is an old Irish remedy for...well...everything. Including colds.

I'm not saying I recommend it, but it always worked for me...

 

Gotta agree with all that say skip drinking altogether when sick. Personally, it's tons of water and maybe some OJ. Plus, if I'm sick enough I don't want to cross up Nyquil with alcohol. Took a dose of alcohol and drank like 5 Pete's back in the 90's once and I swear my heart rate dropped to like 2 BPM. Ever since that scare I haven't' mixed alcohol with drugs

 

Just drink whiskey. Will clear you right up

I usually drink cheap beers I've had before when I'm congested. It takes my mind off my symptoms and doesn't make my cold last any longer than it would if I wasn't drinking despite alcohol's effect on the immune system. In fact I've been getting sick far less frequently since I started drinking beers regularly, but that could just be a coincidence.

 

Of course it can, why else would cough medicine contain alcohol!

 

I don't drink alcohol when I'm sick.

 

That Captain's Daughter is sneaky good, just had some and it didn't last long, seems like kinda of a sleeper outside of RI.

 

I get this more frequently than I'd like as I'm allergic to one of our cats (yeah, that's a thing apparently).

For that purpose, I've recently found allergy nose sprays to help and all but completely cure the issue. Spray, wait a few minutes, and pop a bottle open. Otherwise, I would limit myself to drinking those much-passed-over beers in the fridge during that time. As others have said, if I can fully smell and taste a given good beer, what's the point?
