I've seen a Leine's bottle with a Miller cap. Does that count?

I bought a Moylans Chelsea Porter (correct beer) that had a Hopsickle label underneath, so I assume it happens from time to time without the brewer catching it. I think it also occured with Southampton at one time.

Flying Dog is pretty good at kicking them off the line onto the employee pallet, but it's a crapshoot sometimes if you're having a beer at a buddy's house. Had Barrel Aged Gonzo in a Snakedog can!

that's a really funny and very accurate description. Like a miscarriage in a can. God forgive me, but it's really that bad.

About two and a half years ago, I had a single of what was labeled Cigar City Cubano Espresso that was definitely Oatmeal Raisin Cookie.

Yes, loved it. Not sure why everyone seems to hate it.

Schlafly American Brown Ale in a can, despite the name, Certainly doesn't taste, smell or look like a brown ale. I'm not sure that Sclafly knows exactly what it is either. I can only imagine them sitting in the board room, trying to come up with their own craft in a can. Then someone mentioned that huge, gnarly batch of infected ESB that was slowly eating its way through fermenter #13. So they called Ab/Inbev just down the road, and offered to help them liiquidate their surplus of cans since they can't even give budweiser away anymore. Then they pumped the whole slimy mess into hazmat tankers waiting outside. After arriving at the Bud plant, Some of the Inbev execs. came down to try a sample. They all became quite ill and began to hallucinate, proclaiming it to be a stroke of marketing genius reminiscent of New Coke. They called the boys over Schlafly and offered them a sizable sum for the recipe. Schlafly declined, because they were still in litigation with the ACOE over the massive fish kill in the Missippi River when they dumped the first batch. The canning process was completed and sent out for distribution. The rest, as they say, is history. I don't recommend that anyone try to drink this stuff, but it will clean your toilet bowl, unclog the tub drain and clean the oxidation off of mag wheels.

I didn't hate it either. Just not at all what I was expecting.

I could see that. It tastes quite different than any other DIPA I've had. From what I've read, most bad reviews were from previous years of it, so maybe this year was just better.

Last week I had a Boxcar Mango Ginger IPA keg at my work. I probably sampled 2 pints worth (over a week) trying in vain to find mango, ginger, or hoppiness. I ended up writing it off as a mislabeled keg. And then I had a customer stop in who used to live in West Chester who told me that they let people (I imagine people on tours) "help bottle". So...I'm really not surprised.
But I can definitely see mislabeling happening. I could also see a style being misrepresented as a more "popular" style...without any significant differences. I know of a couple local breweries that produce special-batch items for specific bars that are just a re-labeled version of a flagship brew. So there's that too.

I almost wish that would happen to me just so I could say it happened.

It all hinges on preconceptions. Who says what defines a particular style? There is no beer authority to say what is and what isn't.
Styles anyway aren't static. They evolve so any definition is soon dated. Take IPA. Everybody in this site is taken up with the idea that IPA should be hopped to the limit and drunk as fresh as possible. That's evolution , IPA never began like that.In the UK there are many IPAs of modest hopping and session strength and many will say "they aren't IPAs" yet these have existed for 100 years and become firmly established. That's evolution too but in the opposite direction.

You're welcome! To be fair, it did have "BAG" sharpied on it, but yeah, our employee beers can get a little christmas present-y, especially when there's no label at all.

Yes, I still have a few cans from that night. Delightful.

EDIT: Also I believe someone scratched out the B for a V.
