I'd be happy to drink beer with no alcohol if it also had minimal/no calories. If I could drink a 10 calorie IPA that tasted like a good IPA but had no beer, I'd drink it by the case. If I still had the same calories, no way.

A SNPA has 0.67 oz of alcohol, there are 14 grams of alcohol per 0.60 oz of alcohol. So SNPA has ~16 grams of alcohol. Alcohol has 7 calories per gram so the caloric contribution to a 12 oz SNPA from alcohol is ~110 calories. So you'd be enjoying your SNPA at 65 calories per bottle. So not exactly tea but not bad at all. You could have a couple SNPA for the caloric equivalent of a Twinkie.

I have (while stationed at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia back in the day), but now would rather have my first choice of beverages (which has always been) -- a nice, cold glass of water.

Now, if I had other options such as wine or spirits, I'd go for with those when H2O just doesn't cut it.

But, no. I wouldn't drink non-alcohol beer. Beer without alcohol is just an abomination...

No. Kvass, although not really a beer, and modern versions have 1.5% or 0% ABV is my only exception.

But I still need to have an Odoul's or equivalent to tick the style on this site.

His point is that caffeine and alcohol are integral to enjoying those two particular beverages, which I agree with. I don't drink decaf coffee ever.

If it was exactly the same, Definitely!

It should be a lot cheaper without the alcohol excise too

I don't always drink for the alcohol, just most of the time.

Oh, I understand that perfectly...and whatever floats your boat and/or feeds the habit of choice is fine. It's just that to many people, alcohol or caffeine are not integral to enjoyment, the focus being more upon flavor.
Like pretty much all things, it just really boils down to personal expectation, taste, and preference.
It's what makes the world go 'round.
    Cheers!

I would. I like beer for the flavor and I treat the buzz as a side effect (unwanted most of the times). If I want a buzz I usually drink wine or a scotch.

Sometimes, it's a real pain in the ass organizing transport. Either I drive myself and I have to hold back, or I inconvenience someone else, and I kinda live too far for Uber to be viable.

I think the alcohol in beer makes the calories worth it. If there was a zero calorie or low calorie version of a non-alcoholic beer that tasted exactly like it's boozy counterpart, I'd be all over it. Would it replace a true beer? Definitely not, but there would still be plenty of times where I would enjoy drinking a really flavorful double IPA or stout without the alcohol. Now if the NA beer had the same amount of calories then I most likely wouldn't touch the stuff.

A beer without alcohol is like a day without sunshine! Isn't that what Anita Bryant used to say?
