I searched and couldn't find a similar thread, so forgive me if I'm repeating...

This question is out of left field, but why is the first "a" in the "Beeradvocate" logo in a different font/typeface than the second "a"? Does anyone know?

I just noticed it the other day and had to ask. (Apologies, I have a bad case of OCD and work with fonts all day.) Not sure if it was just part of the logo design or if there's a significance behind it. Cheers!

My guess would be to differentiate it... since Beer Advocate is two words that have been merged together (similar as how you ofter see the first letter of the second word capitalized).

It's always been one word when spelled out ("BeerAdvocate" with an uppercase B and A), however, when we were designing BA mag in 2006 we opted to go with a more stylized approach with the logo. Treating the leading "a" in "advocate" simply looked better in a different font style and lowercase as it specifically applied to the logo.

    That's it in a nutshell.
