Going to Maine for a Tough Mudder at the end of the month. Hopefully hitting up a few breweries and putting the hurt on my bank account

@Short-Pour see previous reply, I did pay him for the beer when I arrived. Just wanted to clarify (free Heady and Lawson's weren't part of the package, but saved me some time searching). LOL!

On the way home from dropping my last fresh(wo)man at college in OH, detoured thru Michigan and just scratched the surface.

Sorry dear - forget those cheap, quick Southwest flights. I will personally pick you up for all breaks - I'll just be a couple of days late.

Dragoon was awesome. Their BA Barleywine Lazarus ranks up there with the best of them. The IPA was great too. I wasn't too impressed by Historic actually. Lumberyard and Wanderlust were my favorites in Flagstaff.

I always hit La Cumbre in ABQ. Got to meet @erway and my buddy Majin @GHB took me on a brewery tour of ABQ. Was happy to get Scale Tipper on tap at Bosque as well. Awesome beer

Come to think of it, it was actually 22 breweries... I forgot to list Grand Canyon Brewing Company in Williams, AZ

Heading to NC for a birthday trip with my girlfriend. She's from there and wants to show me around. Sounds like Asheville is the place to stay! Which of those places was your favorite?

I must be doing it wrong. I don't seem to remember the beer as much as how fun it is to do these brewery crawls around various cities/regions with friends and family. It felt like an adult scavenger hunt. We hit up 7-8 pubs/breweries in a days time in ME/southern VT/NH back in 2008, far before any hype of what each place was had been created. We saw that it was a brewery, ventured to each place unknowing what may be, and we seemed to be content. I had some family do a VT brewery passport "challenge" in 2012. I think they had some really great beers without "knowing" their back story.

The internet and its resources/"reviews" are great. Time is precious and we all want to get the most bang for our buck. So going to that crappy nano brewery on a whim may be a real bad idea without some guidance. I get that. I guess I'm lost on the whole concept of ticking and having everything planned out while on vacation ("we can only spend 90 minutes and two beers here at brewer stop #1. We have to get to the other place by 2pm").

I recommend exploring a little bit on your own. Crave out your own path (if that's even possible). The VT beercation setup has been done by thousands with great success, it appears. That's definitely a must. I think other areas you can be more free about.

Then again, it may be all about your beercation intentions. You can go to as few or as many places as you desire. I saw a couple at La Cumbre (saw their checkin from untappd), who ended up going to a couple ABQ breweries. Samples only. I overheard one of them say they didnt want to get too full, even though it was a once in a long while moment to have the IPAs they really liked on draft. They had to stick to a plan. No pint purchases

    3 so far in 2015.
    April - Belgium
    July - Northern California
    August - Munich
I was hoping to squeeze another one in before the end of the year, but I'm starting to think my wife will kill me if I try to disguise another beer trip as a family vacation. I may actually have to do some family activities next time.

The best way to do it! So many pubs, so many villages that rarely see Americans! Drink the cellar-temperature beer and represent us well!

Yes. I did make Bellwoods, a very worthy stop. It is popular and gets crowded quickly.

Wicked Weed was my favorite. Amazing variety of styles and everything I had from them was killer. My favorites were French Toast stout and Freak of Nature.
