Visited the tasting room tonight and was really pleasantly surprised! ALL the beers were very solid and a couple were well above average. Thier hoppy offerings are really really good! Vegemite Sandwich DIPA with motueka and galaxy was a standout as was the Imperialized Anomoly black ipa. The saison was really well crafted and slightly tart, very refreshing. Riff double ipa was good as well.
Aaren the owner/brewer is a solid local guy.
    Worth a trip!

I definitely agree, I had their wit and one of their dipa's this summer and was very impressed. I always suggest people to check them out when they're in the area.

definitely was impressed when I went in October ... the Wit is a good staple and the DIPA I had was growler worthy ...

I've actually been surprised that there hasn't been alot of buzz on here about Beer'd. I've been going a couple times a month since they opened, a little over a year now, and they constantly are putting out very good beers. They also do a good job of putting out new offerings quite often. I think they have had over 20 different beers since they have opened. And as mentioned above, Beerd's hoppy offerings are always standouts. Aaren does a really good job brewing Double Ipas and the Imperialized Anomoly is one of the best Black IPA I have had. I highly recommend checking them out.

I too am surprised by the lack of buzz here... Haven't had a bad brew from them yet. Their hoppy offerings are excellent! I also have been following them from the beginning, and think there is more great things to come. They also threw a great one year of beer party. Aaren and Precious may be two of the nicest people I have ever met!

Their beers are awesome, no doubt. Went to the anniversary and was such a great time with VERY solid beer offerings.

As of now the only place to get Beer'd is at the brewery. Pizzeta in Mystic has the Wit on tap and I think The Engine Room (?) is supposed to have their stuff on tap soon. There was a small number of Beerd's collaboration beer Nano-a-Nano bottled, but I think those are all gone.

I think this is why they dont get a ton of hype, if they distributed at all they would be well regarded.

I have been a huge advocate and fan of Beer'd for some time now. I think RIFF is a better dipa than anything but heady and the bot.

Woth all the love for southern hemi hops like galaxy, motieka and such- If Vegemite Sandwich was tasted by more it would be VERY highly regarded! On par with some of the best DIPAs. Smelled the growler after i drank the last pour and o swear it smelled like a fresh cut pineapple!

Not large enough for any kind of distro, building slowly, with no loans of any sort. Everything is out of pocket. Barely making enough beer to meet demand now...

Yep, and I will continue to support them. however, I was just saying the fact that they arent distributed is why they dont get hyped up.

I trekked all the way out there this summer, was temporarily stymied by the lack of signage (had to follow peeps with growlers) and they only had one beer on tap. It was very disappointing and makes me unlikely to return.

Stopped in the bakery in the same building on the way out to compensate for lack of joy, and their stuff was stale. All around bad day, really.

I tried man, there wasn't a recent one. They don't spend nearly as much effort updating the facebook as NEBCO or similar, which I consider another strike against them.

Really? They post what's on tap on Facebook and Twitter every time they are open on Fri, Sat and Sun.

Couldn't disagree more. I love NEBCO, but they are terrible about updating. Been to Beer'd twice and online was correct both times. I, admittedly, was not in the area of Beer'd for that purpose but satisfied side trip both times.

they tend to post it on FB right at opening which makes it difficult to gauge a trip. to be fair.

I don't twitter. Its not listed on their website, so I didn't know they had one. Just now it still took me several minutes to find. There was no information on their FB that week - again, that was this summer, they weren't updating FB that often.

Look, I am sure they are trying. From FB it looks like they have an actual sign now. But you all wanted to know why they weren't getting more attention, and I don't think its just distribution. I am sure I am not the only one who had a disappointing experience. The twitter indicates a ton of ebb and flow between the number of beers that are available on location. If I were running such a business, I would stop growler fills of a beer when I was down to the last keg and reserve it only for tasting - that way at least people could try the beer, and maybe return later, instead of being turned away with only a single taste of a style they may or may not appreciate. I would particularly make sure to do this in the summer, when the area is full of tourists. Because those people probably won't return if disappointed. And they seem to be relying on word of mouth and/or have only recently improved their internet presence. Their website still sucks. These are valid criticisms.

However, if they can barely keep up with local demand, and that's all they are interested in, or want to expand slower than many new brands, that's fine. If they'd rather sell out a particular beer from growlers and make some cash on it rather than giving out more free samples, that's their prerogative too. If I lived in Stonington, it wouldn't be a big deal at all to swing by another week, but I don't. And I just don't think its ideal for growing a brand, and has a lot to do with the lack of buzz.
