curious if anyone knows how Beer’d cans hold up in the fridge — if I still have some cans from end of October , do you think they have fallen off a lot by now?
Never had a beerd can last more than a few weeks in my house. Give it a go and report back. I'd imagine they hold up well being a more west coast style with a good bitter punch.
I had a Dogs & boats in the back of my fridge, probably about 2 months. Was still tasty. A bit different, but still tasty.
have they gone in a different direction in the last couple years? I worked down the road for the first couple years they were open and the beers they had then (thinking Dogs and Boats and Hobbit Juice) were some of the more prominent East Coast style IPA's before NEIPA's became a thing.
I would agree. I think of them as East Coast (not New England) style in their IPAs. Not the dank, slight malt of the west coast style. And to the original point of the post. I think the cans hold up well but do fall off after two months.
Nobody ever really talks Beer'd here. They got in kind of before the whole New England IPA revolution happened. Ive actually never had a can from them, but have had a lot of stuff on draft. Their IPAs def have a distinct characteristic. Def tastes more on the side of SOS or old school Heady Topper (Pre-Haze Northeast IPAs). Id imagine cans kept cold would be great 3 months out.
Here is some Beer'd talk https://www.theday.com/business/201...-expansion-in-region-fueled-by-growing-demand Groton — Next summer, those finishing an intense workout at Crossfit Inguz on Leonard Drive will be able to reward themselves by going next door for a little craft beer and cheese. That's when the Beer'd Brewing Co. of Stonington and The Mystic Cheese Co. of Lebanon are slated to move into a building near the end of the street in the Airport Industrial Park. The foundation has been poured and parts for the 12,000-square-foot building are arriving Jan. 5. ------- Having a second brew house will allow Beer'd to grow from producing 250 barrels of beer a month to 750, according to Simoncini. "We just haven't been able to satisfy the demand for the longest time," he said. He plans to do more packaging in cans. Simoncini said part of the allure of the Airport Industrial Park was the availability of natural gas, water and sewer, along with necessary zoning. Pending approvals, Simoncini and Civitello plan to open adjoining tasting rooms. While Beer'd is maintaining its current location in the American Velvet Mill in Stonington, Mystic Cheese is shutting down its mobile shipping-container facility in Lebanon upon moving. -----
Hobbit juice is one of my favorite ipas in CT. I love most of what I've had from them. It's nice to see a localish brewery doing something that's not a neipa. I've found a can or two of dogs and boats and 8 days a week in the back of the fridge in the past that had been there a while and tasted great to me.
my 2 month old can of dogs &boats held up pretty well -- stil had a nice nose and was very drinkable. cheers!
